Help!
Im an Aussie living in Wales UK and will be coming to Oz with my 7 month old for 7 weeks. He will be on Follow Formula called Aptamil which over here is reputed the closest formula to Breast milk and has probiotics and Omega lipids in it..
Can anyone recommend something that is similar.
Aptamil is made by Milupa and is often termed the snobs milk as its slightly more expensive than other formula. I started using it when I had trouble breast feeding and used it initially as a suppliment to compliment breast feeding.. he is now weaning and is completely formula fed since 18 weeks.
Please help
email me direct if you think you have the formula recommendation I need. skippywheatley@gmail.com

Thanks again.. cant wait to come "home" to show off my son!:D

I use S26 GOLD, which I have been told is the closest to breast milk, it costs about $22 per tin.

 Thanks I will look up this formula too and check out the ingredients against my own formula..
Even though I dont travel for another two months I think I will likely bring a few containers of my own formula. Ours dont come in tins but come in foil lined cardboard canisters with a flip lid (aptamil also has a handy built in Leveler and scoop)
I just will have to work out how many canisters I would need and whether I have the space for them (advantage will be the space they take will be useful for souveneers on my return to the UK!)
$22 = about £9.50 which is VERY expensive for me  (I pay MAX £7.50 and that is for the most expensive brand)
Thanks again

I've just spoken to a couple of Midwife colleagues of mine and they both said that Karicare is recommended. Have a wonderful holiday. I think you're lucky living in the UK, it's beautiful over there.

I would reccomend Karicare Gold. It is Whey dominant and contains omega 3's. It is great for my DS and we havent had any problems with constipation which I have heard S26 can cause.

:hugs: Thank you everyone.. I will wait to make up my mind on the formula now. I think it will depend on how his weaning progresses. It might be fine to change to a different brand once he is on 3 meals a day as his digestion should cope ok.
If I do buy in Aussie then will likely go with Karicare. Can someone tell me the price and where you buy it from. (is it a Souls pattison purchase or Coles)
cheers
Skippy ;)
Hi,
Looks like nobody has responded yet to your last post.
Karicare Follow-on Formula normal & gold can be purchased through Woolworths, Coles and Chemists.
I have found in Brisbane, Qld the cheapest place to be a is "Discount Drug Stores" they sell the Karicare Gold for $16.95AU and Karicare normal for $14.95.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Oh thanks for that.. That will help me work out if its cheaper for me to bring my own or buy in Aussie. Im steering towards buying over there but will see how my son continues to do with his weaning.
Thanks
