Hi guys
I'm Zoe I live in Shenton Park.
At this time of the year its pretty tough- in summer I usually go to the park (specially Kings Park), or the swimming pool, or the beach... The zoo isn't too bad if you get a year pass- about $45/year unlimited free entry.
In town- the museem is pretty good, and free entry, they have a lot of cool dispays the kids can get into, heaps of drawers to open, stuffed animals, live frogs and lizards in cages, floor puzzles, lifts, stairs.... No-one seems to mind little kids running around and getting into stuff.
Sci tech (at the City West train station) is also pretty good they have a babies/toddlers section with fish tanks, brio train set, dress ups, ball games... loads more. You can get a years free entry for $28 on a health care card, a bit more without.
Most playgroups have a casual option where you can go along and pay $2 or so each time... I'm not a memeber of a proper group but I don't think its very expensive. You can ring Palygroups wa (in the phone book) and they will tell you where its at in you're local area.
Our local library is also excellent, the childrens section has lots of couches and stuff and even a fish tank.
Felix (18 months) LOVES riding trains and buses so sometimes we just do that, go into a shopping centre and back.. go visit a pet shop or something...
Sorry I can't help with Armadale/Rockingham area specifics....

Have you tried your local toy library. Ours in Ellenbrook is $45 a year and we have access to heaps of toys, puzzles and videos. It's great because my son never gets bored of the toys and you can also try the toys out before you buy them yourself. :D

Hi girls :D
My name's Karen & I live in Willetton. I've just started going to the local playgroup centre in my area which I think is great entertainment value for the littlies. On sunny days I love popping Maddie into the 3 wheel jogger & going for a walk. Although, I am looking forward to when Maddie's a little older (she's 10.5 months) & taking her to the Zoo & Underwater World.
We also have a Jungle Gym in Willetton that's only $4.40 per child & is heaps of fun for kids 10 months & above. It's a great idea for those horrible rainy days.
Cheers,
Karen

Oh yeah I totally forgot to say- at our local PCYC they have baby gym a few mornings a week, it costs about $5? I think- I've never been but my partner takes felix there every week- they love it.
Pretty sure most PCYC's do something similar.. maybe check it out?

:) Hi all, just thought I would write a post here as not many posting from WA. I have just decided to take Jakob to a playgroup next Friday. Don't know why I have been putting it of. Just a bit worried of how Jakob will interact with other children. You know them being hurt by another or your child doing the hurting. Plus all the snotty noses at this time of year, makes me shudder. :(
Jakob is tearing up the place and the rain on my days off from work really deter me from getting out and doing something. He must be just as bored as he has found that he can walk around the place, quite quickly too I might add, whilst he is pushing something around.
I have decided to try to organise a small family get together for Jakob's 1st b'day, and I am going to suprise everyone by having a naming ceremony for him also. Saves me trying to organise two separate events. Just have to hurry up and organise a celebrant.
Anyway I hope you all have a lovely weekend, I'm off to the Baby Expo.

Well what a mad place the baby expo was! Prams and strollers everywhere and so many little people to trip over. Picked up some good specials though. :p
Hi Lachysmum :) I have just been on another forum looking for ideas for Jakob's birthday. Thought I would share. As well as adding a naming ceremony to the day one mum is going to finish up a time capsule for her child. Including things like footprints, newspaper from birth day, photos from first year, wishes from each of the guests and a letter from herself expressing all her hopes and dreams for her childs life.
I think its a great idea as I was looking for something everyone could be involved in, as the ceremony is a suprise. Good luck with everything.

I live in Ellenbrook, work in Warwick and back and forth to Duncraig where my mum looks after Jakob whilst I work.
We had some problems trying to organise a date for Jakob's b'day as we want all our family there, as it's a surprise naming ceremony as well. Have managed to do it though by telling them we will be doing a time capsule for him and for them to bring something along to add. ;) This way they would feel more guilty if they don't turn up.
The only people who know are his "godparents" or whatever they are called in this situation. Hopefully won't upset too may people with the surprise.

Hi Jakob'smum, :p
I live NOR not far from Joondalup. Do you work full time or part time? I am a SAHM but thinking about putting the little one in day car for 1 day so i could go to work (in Osborne Park), but he is very attached to me so i dont know if its a good idea just now so i might wait 2 or 3 months. Unfortunately my mum works so she cant look after him. :(
It's gonna be a big surprise to everyone when they find out about the naming ceremony. If you know of any good sites that have information on 1st birthdays let me know!
PS SOrry Juz we are taking over your post hehe
Cheers :D

Hi,
This is my first post also. My daughter is 15mnths old and I'm finding it difficult to keep her (and myself :( )) amused without it costing us each time we go out.
We are also in Willetton and have joined the local play group, and one of the ladies there was telling me of a thing she goes to each week.
It's run by the council, is held in numerous suburbds (a different one each day of the week) - they have toys for the kids and cuppas for the mums and it's free!
I'm waiting on a brochure for the one in my area, but perhaps you could check with your local council to ask if they have a similar service?
If you get any other fantastic ideas from your post, I'd love to hear them! :)
All the best,
Lily's Mum

Hey Lily's mum
Sounds like you've come across Buster the Fun Bus... It is great, especially since it goes to parks as well as community centres, and as well as heaps of toys (brio trains, ride on cars, sand pits, dolls, puzzles, baby toys etc etc) there are activities like painting and playdoh, and in school holidays there is a program for older kids too.
As far as I know its only run by the City of Fremnatle, City of Melville and City of Cockburn? I could be wrong though. You can ccess the timetable at
http://www2.freofocus.com/facilities/html/buster.cfm
I personally think its worth making the trek to one of the parks/centres even though I don't live in one of those areas...
