Ok I am sorta taking a stab in the dark here. But It kind of makes a little sense that my bub may have rotavirus. She has every symptom - severe diarrhea, Except she is not vomiting.

Also I am thinking it may be because when I change her nappy she tries to reach down there! Thus sucking on her thumb

I will take her to the doctors tommorow if she is still having lots poopies.

For those who's kid/s have had it, do you just let it run its course or is there anything I can do apart from lots of H2o!?

I think it is more likely to be a gastro bug?

rota virus is horrible and in my experience you cant just let it run its course if that is what it is, when DD had it last year she was so so sick her temp was so high she was un respionsive and so dehydrated, She wasnt pooing as she had a ostomy and every thing was leaking straight out of that, was the most horific thing I have ever seen her bowel completely shut down afterwards was horid

If you think she has rota then you need to get a stool sample to be tested so that you know for sure as then they infection disease people get notified for data etc

hope you litle on imprioves

also its not just H2o they need with rota as the vomiting and pooing makes aall the electrolits go out of wack as wel whcih is why they give them electrolites like gastrolite etc or a IV drip

I guess you will just have to monitor it and see how it goes. Definitely pop down to the doctors if you see no improvement. If it is Gastro, it can quickly dehydrate little ones... it is a horrible bug  Hopefully your little one starts to improve soon! :)

DS1 had the Rotavirus when he was about 15mths old and it was terrible.

He wasn't vomiting either, but everything was just going straight through him. He only ate dry foods for about 5 days straight and that was still going straight through him. I had him to the docs twice and once to the hospital as they were really worried about him dehydrating as even water was going straight through him.

At day 3 we had to get a sample to get tested and it was confirmed to be the rotavirus.

Good luck and i would go to the doctors just to get it checked out :hugs:

Tell me about it its awful!

We both havn't had much sleep. She now has slight blood through her poos:( It may be from going so much, as she seems to kinda strain although its diarrhea. Have no nappies, wipes or handwash left! Have gone through about 30 in the last two days. I called the doctors and they not open today. So I'm off to the shops to buy some more nappies:sleeping: Will play it out for the next few hours whether to take her to hospital or wait for doctors tommorow.

If your bubs has blood in her poo's I would highly recommend going to the Hospital. It may just be from going so often, but it's definitely something thats needs to be checked..

I took her to the pharmacist and and got her some electrolytes icy poles, pharmacist said its probably from straining or going too much but I am going to let her have a sleep and then take her, just t be sure. shes buggered.
