I think you're more likely to get piles, which could be pretty yucky.
Funny coz this is one of the things I worry about and taking indigestion stuff can make it worse!
Make sure you drink lots of water and avoid too much eggs and red meat x

Nup, can't hurt the baby - just your bum! LOL

Truely, you can give yourself hemmaroids (?sp) from straining too hard on the toilet, but you can't damage the baby at all. If you're stressed, add some fibre to your diet, drink plenty of water, get enough rest, and ask lots of questions of your GP and/or OB.

i got told not to push too hard cos you can dislodge the baby....maybe thats just in early pregnancy but...

The baby isn't going anywhere without your cervix being dilated. And if it takes hours of labour for this to happen, it's not going to happen after a few minutes straining on the loo ;)
Don't worry about it, I'm positive you won't push the baby out.

Who on earth told you THAT?!?!

Completely untrue! Like Emmylou said - your cervix needs to be dilated for the baby to come out - even when you get your period, your cervix opens to let the blood out - so its not going to happen just like *that* from straining to do a poo!

Thanks so much girls... it has helped heaps.. i have been pretty good for the past few days so i'm keeping to the things iam eating as it seems to be helping.

I also read that it's better to try to go even when you dont feel like it! and to take the time... so it's what i have been doing and it seems to be working!

:D
