Hi, does anyone know how to make custard/s for a 9 month old using formula or EBM?
I am starting to make DS#2 his own foods and he has a custard after his main meal lunch and tea time, so i would love to know how to make some for him, and how to get nice flavours? He loves Banana, but i would also like to mine own.

I saw one when I was looking for the yogurt one. It was exactly the same as normal custard, i.e use 3 eggs yolks for 3 cups of milk, 2 tablespoons corn flour/corn starch, sugar to taste and some vanilla..
I make custard like that a lot as it's pretty quick and I love custard... I often make it with soymilk, don't see why it wouldn't work with breastmilk?

breastmilk is really nice and fatty so should make a really lovely smooth custard. beware that many vanilla extracts have an alcohol base.

Yeah, i wouldn't use Vanilla, but i would use puree fruit for the flavour, but thanks for the tip

So with the sugar, would you still add it? or something else? just as i know that they say no sugar before 12 months.. ????

Nah don't need the sugar, it's not added to make it thicken or anything really it's just for our sweet tooth tastes that we put sugar in.
Breastmilk with pureed banana or other fruit would be plenty sweet.
I would put the pureed fruit in at the end though, some can stop it from thickening properly.

Thanks for that. Yeah i was going to add the fruit after it was made. Could normal vanilla custard also be ok to make it? Or stick with the basic one?

Not sure - I use vanilla beans when I make vanilla stuff, I'm not sure if that's OK with littlies/or how old your littlie is?
I think just eggs, corn starch and the milk would make a nice custard, maybe a little honey if it's something they normally would have/are ok with.

He is 9 months old. I grab a powder that had no egg. l made it with forumla and added pear and banana jar puree:devil:. and i love it, not to sweet nor no taste.
So i will give him ago tomorrow with it. I hope it is ok for him. i made twice the normal amount as i had to use 250mls of forumla. (i use packet/box stuff as i BF DS#2 so i have no milk ready).
So i hope he likes it as i do.
Thanks you all so much, i feel great to know i can make meals like that for him :yelclap::D
