View Full Version : becoming a surrogate - request for info
Hello out there!
I recently stumbled across an article about altruistic surrogacy, and it has been on my mind ever since. When I look at my children (I have two littlies, a toddler boy and a baby girl), the love I feel for them is overwhelming - and it breaks my heart to think that there are people who desperately want to have their own children, but can't.
So I would like to look into becoming a surrogate mother. We are not planning to add on to our family - I love my children, but gee, are they hard work!! :) I'm still young, well, 30... youngish then :), I'm healthy and have had two completely problem-free pregnancies/natural deliveries. Our home is in the ACT/NSW area. I feel like I can and should help someone.
I've had a brief chat with my husband on the topic and he is a bit undecided, although certainly not opposed to the idea - not enough info I think. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there who has been a surrogate mother and could share their experience, from their as well as their partner's point of view.
Also, if there is anyone looking for a surrogate, feel free to contact me - I wouldn't be able to help anyone now or in near future though as I'm still breastfeeding my five-month-old and want to until she's at least one.
Have a look for the Surro mums Australia Group at Yahoo....lots of info there I believe, as well as couples looking for a surrogate.

Hi Rainbow,
go to www.yahoo.com.au (http://www.yahoo.com.au), click on the Groups link and search 'surrogacy'. There are a few groups, lots of support and info for and from surrogates as well as intended parents. You will have to apply to join.
For those wanting the link to the yahoo surro group you are welcome to PM and I can send you the link.
I have been a past member.
Hi cesilko,
I'm so thrilled to hear that there is someone like you, willing to help couple who have difficulties conceiving. I have been through a roller coaster ride for the past 13 years. I was on traditional herbal medicine for a long while, continued examinations by doctors to find out reason for not conceiving, then on IVF treaments. Undergoing treatment is a very hard and demanding journey & brings with it hope, joy & other times stress and anxiety. I'm currently 40 years old, had one miscarriage and one still born of 38 weeks. It was the still born which happened about 2 years ago that hit me the most, it was the most devasting day of my life, the feeling of sadness, numbness, emptyness, continued question of why……sorry I cannot go on, it's too deep into the sadness. I suffered severe postnatal depression and was hospitalised for about a month. Psychologically, I cannot go through another pregnancy, not that I can get pregnant that easily. I'm getting better overtime with help of my great husband, family and friends. I've been searching for a surrogate for a while and was thrilled to come across someone like you. There is still hope for me and my husband and hopefully one day our dream of becoming parent comes true. We love children, at the beginning of our marriage we wanted 6 kids, I didn't know it was so hard for me to fall pregnant. Now we will be extremely happy with one or two kids to complete the missing part of our life as a family. We will cover all your expenses.
I would be so much appreciated, actually words cannot describe how thrilled I will be, if you could be my surrogate mother.
Thank you
Mee

HI,
I am 34 yrs old and have recently been married to the love of my life. Unfortunately in 2000 I fell sick with Meningococcal septicaemia leaving me with Renal failure. I am unable to carry a child however we have started the process of freezing embryos hoping to be able to some day have a child of our own.
When I read posts like yours it gives me hope that there are people out there with such compassion
I just saw your previous post and wondered if you had already found someone to help or not?
Hi Cesilko - I am wondering if you are still interested in becoming a surrogate mother or if there is anyone who is willing to help my husband and I. We have been desperate for a child of our own for the past ten years. After many miscarriages, IVF and finally having to have a complete radical hystorectomy for cancer we no longer have any choices. To add insult to injury we have spent six years of the QLD Intercountry Adoption list jumping through hoops, and bending over backwards to qualify for the Australian and Ethiopian list only to find out two weeks ago the Aust govermnet has now suspended this and this means that we would have to start basically from scratch again.
We are desperate to have our own little family and not always be the ones at the family and friends BBQ as the couple with "no children". It broke my heart the other week when my four year old nephew asked "when are you going to grow a baby in your tummy".
Please if anyone is wanting to be a surrogate or can think of any options for me - I would love to hear.

Hi Cesilko,
I live in Melbourne and myhusband and I are desperately looking for someone to help us as a surrogate. I had a hysterectomy just after my 22nd birthday.
Here is a link to my blog.
I would love for you to have a read and them perhaps contact me if you feel that you would be interested in travelling this road with us.
My current understanding is that my doctors are saying that we would not be able to evel look into implanting for probably another year while everything is put into place. (the blog will wxplain further)
Considering this path is an amazing gift that you would be able to give someone.
