I was watching the discovery health channel this evening, and there was this programme about a huge family in the US called the Duggars, who at the latest count, have 16 children. (http://health.discovery.com/convergence/duggars/duggarfamily.html)

Turns out, her 16th child was a VBA2C! The programme showed her having to change care-providers to gain support in this, and then later showed her give birth with her 2 eldest daughters by her side.

Doesnt happen often, but it is nice for a change to see the media present such a straightforward birth after not just 1, but 2 c/secs

VBA2C - amazing, and yes great that it's shown as perfectly valid and normal.

But the real kicker IMO: 16 CHILDREN!!!    I'm gobsmacked. 16!!! six-fricken-teen!!!!

Okay, so does this mean she's had 14c/sections:eek: or were first 13 vb, then a c/section, then 2vbacs?

If it's the latter, this woman has proven that she has had more practice at birthing than most support people, so should be able to give a good call. For the others of us who have only given birth to one or two bubbas, the risks and possible outcomes aren't so clear cut.

From what I recall, she had a c/sec with a set of twins she had, and then a couple of bubs later she had another c/sec for a transverse lie (#15). So I believe she had vbac'd inbetween the c/secs also - it was just after the 2nd c/sec she was forced to change careproviders to one with more faith in the female body....

She also homebirthed 2 of her older kids, but since they lived in such a small house for such a long time (3 bedrooms till only last year!), I guess future homebirths would have lacked the modesty and privacy this lady is so obsessed with.
