DS2 has a few bowel problems and because of this he hardly ever poos. He is on Neocate and he hasn't pooed for nearly a week. The last time it took this long between poos we gave him the brown sugar mixture. It worked but I don't want to have to keep doing it.
Does Infant's Friend help with that? I know that it says that it helps with the bowels but does it actually work?

Hi There,
Sounds like some difficult times in your house. :hugs: to you.
I assume your paed. knows about the lack of bowel motions?
Coloxyl is probably a better solution than a sugar micture. Babies really shouldn't be having sugar in their system so young. Coloxyl can be bought at a chemist and added to their bottles- just make sure he drinks the whole bottle so he gets the whole dose.
Also, coloxyl is good for the odd occasion. It's not a permenant remedy. If you find you need ot use it regularly, then you need to see a dr about the formula.
Sometimes a drink of warm water can also stimulate the bowels to make a move!! And bicycle action...oh boy...i remember those joyous times with my sons when they were babies...not fun at all!
I have used infants friend, but i found when we were in dire straights (hadn't pooed in over a week) that coloxly worked better. Infants friend is natural though.

I assume you are seeing a GI for his bowel problems ???
I am suprised they havent advised using Movicol to help him stay regular ... Or at least something along those lines ...
G has had to be on this daily to keep his system going ... Trialing him off it atm which I think isnt helping his reflux again !!!
I would go with Movicol but it may take a larger dosage to get his system clear & moving so that you can then reduce it to the one half satchet a day.
I wouldnt go sugar in water either ... Its bad for the gut !

Hey
I used to give DD infants friend, and would do so when she was constipated too, and it seemed to do the job allright. I would give her a dose a day pretty much, and to me I noticed a huge difference.
