Can anyone tell me in a nutshell how Austudy works?

I know it has to be an approved course, etc but does it go on my DH income as well as mine? etc etc?

Thanks :)

I don't think you get austudy if you are a parent. You get parent education supplement which I believe is means tested. It would be better for you to call Centrelink and ask someone there or look on their website.

:yelclap:YAY - I studied for a few years as a single parent and PES really helped with those overpriced books I had to get.
Thought I'd also help you out with cheaper uni books. Better World Books is a second hand book store online. Allow yourself 21 days for postage because they are overseas and use a cheaper carrier but if you can find books for a fraction of the price you can use the money on the cost of the actual course.
Have a great time studying.:goodvibes: Hopefully I'll be getting back into it too.

GL with the austudy, I hate dealing with centrelink such a nightmare, I get almost nothing because of DF's income but I do get a healthcare card which helps a lot for prescriptions (all $5.30) and dental work.

textbookexchange.com.au also has some well priced books.

scribed.com is an awesome one for scanned books/journals/articles sorta like an online library..

Ooh and you can apply for the return to study bonus, I am of the understanding it's 950 + the normal 200 payment, I'm applying at the moment as I've gone back to fulltime study from working full time, but it applies in many cases and really helps with the textbooks, my text for the next three months was $249 full price, 179 at fishpond and I got for $130 at the uni co-op bookshop near broadway but you can order online. $20 to become a member but even the non member prices are still cheaper than anywhere else..
