Hi to all Sydney Mums,
I am the proud Mum of 15 month old Mia, living in Melbourne. My husband has obtained a position based in Sydney (Willoughby) and I need some advise! Could anyone suggest areas we could check out to live in? We currently own our home and have no idea about the Sydney rental market. We are trying to get an idea of which suburbs to look at? And which suburbs would have reasonable rent!?!? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
thank you,
:o Mia's Mum

Hi,
Thank you so much for your response! This was my first post and I thought no-one would reply! We had the chance to visit the Willoughby / Chatswood area and think it's really nice. I love the homey feel, along with the shops / cafes, etc.
We have heard a lot about Sydney's traffic woes so staying in the area would be ideal. Just slightly concerned at rental rates??!!?!? I will check out domain though! Hopefully we will be lucky and find a place within our budget!
Thanks again,
Mia's Mum
Whereas I pay $240 in the stix for a 2 bedroom townhouse ......

Hi Mia's mum,
Obviously the further west or north you go the better "value for money"
you may get from your rental. You can try checking out suburbs along the pacific highway, Roseville, Gordon, Pymble. (Gordon is my pick) Or go West towards Artarmon, Lane Cove, Chatswood West, East Ryde, Gladesville. Just depends on what you are looking for.
Just as a guide Gladesville to Willoughby would be around 30 minutes in peak hour.
Good luck with your search.
Hi mia's mum
In case u r still looking, I thought i'd put in my 2 bobs worth!
We moved from country SA to Sydney last yr and with the help of my auntie who's lived in Sydney for 17 yrs we chose Stanmore. It's innerwest sydney.
Quite close to the city, but it's a nice area - lots of cafes, good schools, etc.
Rent is.............. not cheap! We r currently paying $360/wk (3 b/room, open kit/lounge, concrete backyard:thumbsdown: !), although, we got in at a good time. Now for the same thing you pbly can't rent for less than $400.
Good luck! We have got to now the area a bit now, what's good what's not. We r happy where we r, although I'd like some grass!:D
