Hi there

Ive been having some weird symptoms lately and i dont know whats wrong with me.

Firstly, ive been soooo thirsty in the morning- i can drink nearly 3 bottles of pump water by 9am! I have had a flu recently and maybe im snoring/ mouth breathing through the night. Sometimes ill get really thirsty at night but only usually drink one more bottle. But generally, i dont need to drink alot during the day.

Then, at night- the most horrible thing- i wake up, with vomit in the back of my throat- the rising up of it wakes me and i either get up and nothing happens, or it doesnt come up any further- but yuck- its horrible. I dont get how this is happening when im asleep? Its not like im over exercising or anything- im sleeping! I know its not indegestion as i have had that ages ago and know what that is like. But this is vomit, ready tobe sick. And its happening more frequently.

I also have been having a HUGE issue with sweat. I visibly sweat- its dripping off me, and its wetting my hair when im out and about if im not somewhere that has a breeze, a fan or aircon..... I do have a bit of an anxiety issue, and i know some of it is this, but generally the sweating is terrible. Its embarrasing and i know people i talk to must be thinking 'my god'. :o

I know the excessive thirst in the morning may be linked to the flu ive just had- as early as this week- but im worried the other things might be an indicator of something like diabetes?

I am overweight, but i have been eating alot better. I am under a fair bit of stress but i dont see how sweating to the point of my hair curling and vomit at night is linked to stress?

I just dont know what to do. I cant really afford to go to the doctor.

Whats going on?

excessive thirst, urinating and fatigue can all be signs of diabetes but can also be indicators of other things. I'd be going to your Dr and getting some tests done just to be on the safe side.

Well the waking up with vomit in the back of your throat sounds like reflux - i've had it and that's exactly what happens.

The excessive thirst could be a sign of diabetes.

Reallyy the only way to know for sure what is happening is to see a doctor - maybe ring one of those free health lines for advice?

Can only one symptom be an indicator of diabetes?

I do not urinate excessively and like i said the thirst is only in the morning and once at night.

The reflux- isnt that heartburn? I dont know! What can i do?

Im scared to go to the doctor because the answer is always 'just loose weight' and ive been trying. It just gets me down when they say it and blame everything on that. I know that being obese isnt helping things but sometimes its just not always the answer!

Help me! Im so scared!

I'm a big girl too but if I go in there with a list of symptoms I've never had them dismiss it as excess weight. You need to be assertive with them and tell them you want a full blood work done to find out if there is a problem with your sugar levels or your thyroid or anything really. If the Dr says its just because of the weight rack em off and get another Dr. There can always be underlying causes to things.....including your weight.

Thanks chunky.

I dont know if its diabetes, i feel fine in every other way.

I know someone who was recently diagnosed but she was having dizzy spells, fainting and lived on coke.

I dont!

I know what your saying.... i will say to him 'i realise i need to loose weight but maybe theres more to it than that'.

If i had excessive thirst all the time, etc i could understand.

I also have what looks like burst blood vessels in the inner side of my ankle and foot. I have a bad leg and i know that some of that is related to that but i just dont know.

I am SO sh!t scared of finding out that im sick and just dont know it.

I know i need to bite the bullet and find out.

You do need to find out because most of the things that it could be a very easily treated. I'm pre diabetic and only have to take 1 tablet a day to treat it. I also have to watch what I eat but I need to do that anyway. Don't be afraid....it may very well be nothing.

Aw babe, I hope it all works out fine:hugs:It's scary when you're not sure what's going on...maybe some of it is a flu hangover? The vomit thing could most definitely be reflux. I have had similar, and thought I was dying. Reflux is made worse by being tired. When we're tired, our muscles get fatigued, including the oseophegal (jeepers, is that really a word?) muscles, which exacerbates the problem.
If a doctor hassles you about your weight, dance on them, singing..Wo oah, fat Betty, dance on man. That should shut them up quite soundly.:smiliedance:

Excessive sweating, thirst (4 or more pump bottles a day is still quite a lot) and the vomiting mean that you need to see a doctor. If you're quite worried you can always go to an emergency department - you might wait a while, but it could be worth getting checked out, especially if these symptoms are new. There is a type of diabetes unrelated to weight that can cause these symptoms - it needs treatment asap. Don't wait much longer to see a doctor. :hugs:

Thanks Mimi- i think i will be going sometime this week- as soon as i can get in. Id rather know than not know. All this worrying isnt going to help.

The diabetes that your referring to- do you know the name of it? Do you know much about it? Im just wondering if i only have one or two symptoms of 'standard' diabetes does that mean i can still have it? Im so confused, i dont eat alot of junk and im loosing weight. The sweating is just so embarrasing.... and its all facial- its not under my arms anything. If i dont have air, im sweating.

Thanks

there are two types, type one and type two. One is related to weight and is treated by a tablet the other is not related to weight and can only be treated by needles.

Get checked out the longer you leave it, if it is diabetes the longer you are risking doing permanent damage.

Good Luck.
