I've been thinking about what things I should think about giving up again in preparation of TTC again when hubby gets home....
I remember before Hubby left I gave up alcohol, caffeine, entering smoky environments, eating hot and spicy foods, saying no to sex every night (just incase I was ovulating lol) standing for old ladies on public transport and running for the bus.
What have you given up in order to TTC? Anything stupid like me? Come on - theres got to be someone else out there with kooky ideas about TTC! :D
This is ridiculous but i can't bring myself to eat peanuts! I know they're fine to eat when you're pregnant but i had such severe allergies to other things as a child that i just couldn't risk my child being allergic to peanuts! I know i'm not pregnant but i just can't eat them - just in case!
Silly no?

I know what you mean Ally, but it's all worth it in the end because you are ensuring your egg's will be at optimal health at the time of conception and in turn, your baby will enjoy the health benefits ;)
On our long ttc journey we gave up all dairy product's and converted to soy, still use soy milk and yoghurt to this day (went back to cheese-my fave).

We are happy with two, although it wouldn't take much to twist my arm ;)
I still pinch myself every day, I am so thankful to have been blessed with two amazing miracles and I tell them all the time they were worth the wait!
Giving up all those things was definately a small price to pay and I still don't drink caffeine or (much) alcohol :D

Hi guys,
Just on the issue of dairy products, I have heard soy can be bad for fertility in some women:
"The American Family Physician magazine stated that up to one-quarter of women with fertility problems may be helped by dietary changes. The researchers state that, since the phytoestrogens in soy products increase the length of the follicular phase and lead to fewer menstrual cycles over a woman's lifetime, it is possible that soy may decrease fertility in some women. But they also add here that women with multiple risk factors for infertility may be more sensitive to soy than others."
I don't know if this applies to you Ally, but it's good to be informed I guess :hugs:

Haven't read about this one, what's wrong with dairy when ttc??
I have read that soy milk (not any other soy products like tofu or tempa, wich are good) are bad for you. Something to do with the processing they go though and then your tummy trying to digest it.
My thing that I stay away from is foil, Aluminium, tetra packs, toothpaste, Backing powder and white flour, deoderent roll on's and sprays. They all contain Aluminium. Very bad for you.
(I still use toothpast, can't seem to find an alterative) Anyone know of one?

I use the QV deodarant spray- no aluminium:thumbsup:
Also my natropath told me to use Lavender water in a spritz bottle as an alternative to deodarant.
Also Im pretty sure I found toothpaste on here that doesnt contain aluminuim
www.lush.com.au they have a range called White Toothpaste and one called Black Toothpaste (dont know why you'd want black toothpaste???? )
I had also read that about the soy some where but cant remember where???? sorry
Good luck with ttc Ally:hugs:
I wish we were ready to start too:(

Sorry to hijack your thread Ally but I just read up on why Lush have a Black tooth paste lol and its a citrus and sandalwood flavour and has charcoal in it to make your teeth extra extra white, great for wine/coffee drinkers OR those cheeky smokers:yes:
I think Ill have to get some, the White range tastes like vanilla and is supposed to make your breath sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet smelling:D

Haven't read about this one, what's wrong with dairy when ttc??
At the time (over 5yrs ago) we were following the eating and vitamin plan of Australia's best Fertility Naturopath and yes since then there has been some studies on soy product's (I think thyroid function) , but they are in no way bad for you
It's not that dairy is bad for ttc, they just recommend less dairy in your diet (in particular cows milk).
