View Full Version : Question for Co-Sleepers
I currently co sleep with my 4 mth old daughter. I don't really have any set sleep times for her during the day. She usually has 1-2 half hour sleeps between 6am-12pm and then maybe a half hour to 2 hour sleep in the afternoon. She then might have a sleep in the evening ranging from half hour to 2 hours and then comes to bed with me at around 9-9.30pm each night.
My question is, should I keep going with that routine or should I start to set some times (especially in the evening)? And if so, does I leave her in my bed once settled or do I have to go to bed earlier?
i think it is totally up to you and what you feel comfortable with in yourself. My daughter now 5 mths goes to bed about 830 nd she sleeps till about 5 has a bottle and she is straight back to sleep nd stays until about 830-9 in the morning. Then has a nap about lunch time, then about 330 then she will have a 1/2 hr nap at 730 then back in bed by 830.
I have never actually made her a set bed time she just goes to sleep when she is ready, and i am happy with that, at the moment it is while she is happy i am happy. I think once she gets a little bit older i will set more of a routine!
But as i said before each to their own, whatever makes you happy and what you feel comfortable with :D
I think you should do what suits you and your baby, if it's working then it's the right thing for you! There seems to be some pressure to have certain sleeps at certain ages- I just put mine to bed when they are tired- no set times either. Though we do have a bed time routine- which helps get them down. I co-sleep with one of my twins (the other one doesn't like it) and after he is asleep I usually get up- though I have been known to drift off with him and wake up in the middle of the night- there's no right and wrong when it comes to this kind of stuff I think.
Babies seem to change all the time with their sleep patterns- once you think you've nailed their routine, they seem to want to do something different- my motto when the twins were young was 'grumpy babies go to bed'
Enjoy your little one- I love cuddling up to my little bunny
