Hi,

I am 28 weeks, and this is my third pregnancy @ 16 weeks onwards this baby has made his presence known in a big way....Don't think the docs believed me when I told them that it wasn't just "flutters" that I felt (they say you always feel them earlier each time around because you know what you're feeling), no, it was full force movements.

My Hubby & kids watch my stomach transform into who knows what as the baby stretchs & kicks for them constantly....

And I have also been feeling what I can only describe as seizure-like movements, spasms, or something that seems so wrong, but when I asked I was told that the baby's just being startled... No I don’t think so,….as being startled is a quick sudden movement. But these feel like an uncontrollable/constant ping-pong so fast you can't count or even know what's going on in there. He is such an Acrobatic.

Can babies in womb have Seizures or Fits ?

Has any one else experienced this…..Is it normal???…. I am starting to get very worried as i didn't expeirence anything like this with my other two kids:(.

I was going to say exactly what Jakois said, hiccups. It feels similar in the early months but towards the end you will be able to tell its hiccups because the limited space enables us to feel every little twitch. My kids all had hiccups, my tummy moved so much i could actually capture it all on video camera very clearly.

My son was posterior and his movements where very different to my girls but i still felt hiccups and it was very weird.

I am sure you bub is fine, the movements you describe sound very normal to me.

O and J were like this...

really really full on, early on, in utero...

Hasn't stopped.... maybe you're having a 'Spirited child' :p

Or could they be reacting to something you're eating... Hyperactive in utero???

Try cutting out some stuff and see if they calm down.

I had the same thing with my 2nd pregnancy and I was just as concerned as you but I found a few threads on here that mentioned others feeling the same thing so I guess it is all normal.

 oh this is happening to me at the moment too....very very full on movements, lots of them too. I suppose I am just putting it down to being the 3rd one, but i did wonder....I feel like I'm closer to full term with this style of kicking, and lots of pressure too..maybe it's a boy:rolleyes:

Newborn seizures are typically not like those you would see an adult suffer. They tend to be more eye flickering, small hand and leg jerking, etc. They are often very difficult to detect, even when you are observing the child closely.

I would say that it's probably just a very excitable little person you have there, and hopefully nothing more.

(I am a paed's nurse, so have a little experience in this area of newborn seizures).

Hope you feel a bit more reassured now.
