Hi all
I've drawn a bit of a blank today and was hoping to ask for some of your collected wisdom...
My DS is having his first birthday on the weekend and we are having a party in a park for him. I am a bit stumped with foods I can take that;
A, transport ok
B, are finger food (don't really need plates and forks etc)
C, don't need to be heated and are ok out of the fridge for a little while - picnic foods
there will only be a few kiddies and mostly adults
thanks so much lovelies!

If you can heat things befor you go
You could do sausage rolls and savaloy sausages(little boys)
Only other thing I can think of is sandwiches..oh if u dont want chips etc for the adults you could always go pretzels:confused:
Oh also thought muffins, dips and biscuits, fruit, boiled eggs, corn on the cob

We always do sushi at our parties
Also, fruit kebabs (chunks of fruit threaded onto paddlepop sticks) vegies and dip (hommus, avocado etc) mini salad/whatever wraps, mini muffins...things like that :)
u can cut up some cheese and cabanossi, etc, and freeze it overnight.
then the morning of the party, take it out and it will stay cold until it is needed without needing refrigerating... HTH

cheeses, crackers, and fruit (fresh and dried)
fruit platters/kebabs/cups
dip and bikkies
mini quiches-ham and cheese, chicken and asparagus /broccoli,
sandwiches- any combination of fillings but take into consideration how long they will be out for, cut into shapes for fun finger food for little ones
rolled out bread spread with cream cheese etc topped with carrot and half a sausage then rolled up and cut into 2 logs was one of dd's favs - can do heaps of variations to suit tastes and even use chicken/flavoured sausages or chicken strips etc
mini pizzas (or pizza fingers)
mini savory scrolls - DD's fav 2 is vegimite and cheese or mild salsa and cheese :) DP loves spinich and fetta or chutney and cheese, I love any of them -lol pizza scrolls are good too- roll out scroll dough (savory scone mix works) fairly thin scatter/spread toppings over, roll up (not too many times or they are to think-not really finger food) slice into scrolls and bake till golden.
does the park you are going to have a bbq??
Thats all i can think of for now :)
hope you have a great day :) we had Indiana's first birthday at a park -was great she had a blast and we got to return to our house being in one piece still :) lol

Ohhh I LOVE making watermelon baskets!!!
Just buy one whole watermelon (the bigger the better!!) then some other fruit for a chunky fruit salad.
Look up the instructions online for making a watermelon basket and cut the melon approprately. I usually halve mine and make two "bowls" from it rather than a basket with a handle, and I zig zag the edges so it looks pretty. Scoop out the middle and cut everything up and re-fill the watermelon with a YUMMY fruit salad :)
