I was having a little lookie at some nice dresses and ive fallen in love with this one:
http://www.ashasbridal.com.au/displayitem.asp?idProduct=1856
One of my friends thinks it looks like a satin bedspread.... now ive never slept on anything that fancy!
I would like your honest opinions. I do like the colour but until i see it in a store i dont even know if it would suit me. I would like it in a pale pink....
What do you think? We arent even engaged but i love weddings, etc.... and i just want to have a lookie!
What do you think?

I like it. If I was to get married again, I have decided I want a gathered dress like that one.

I like it! I think pink would be a bit Paris Hilton though. :o
Its a lovely dress, not sure if pink would work though, as its a very dramatic dress and needs a "strong" colour, JIMO. Its very pretty isnt it?
To my eye the fancy bodice AND the looped skirt are a bit too much together. One or the other gives the eye something to look at without all the competition.
But then I'm a very plain kind of person.
I LOVE IT!!!!!! We arnt engaged either but I know he has a ring (and HATE not knowing when he will pop the Q! LOL) so I look too!
This is exactly the kid of dress I want! Its very OTT and princess like but I want my dress to be that way!
I think it would look beautiful in pink but I would go for ivory I think! Not a bad price either considering their sizes go past a 14!!!

Do I like the dress? It's gorgeous but too fancy for me.
I agree with the others that such a dramatic dress needs a strong colour like the red, BUT if you're talking about a white/ivory gown with a slight pinkish tinge, then that could work. I just don't think pink itself would work - makes me think Paris Hilton or Barbie when I picture it in a real pink.
Tend to agree with your friend too about the bedspread comment  but in a totally good way. Wouldn't have thought it myself though if you hadn't mentioned it.
If you really like it and are going to buy off the internet, I'd find a stockist near you and go in and try it on - I fell in love with 2 dresses while I was searching for my perfect dress and I tried them on and they just didn't work at all.
The other thing I was wondering about the dress is how it would bustle, given all the gathering on the skirt and train........

I think it looks sunning, I think the pale pink would work though, make it a nice soft dress rather than an overly bold dress

Its beautiful hun.
Not sure about the pale pink though because when you look at the white version of it you can't see the lovely detail of all the beading and that.

I do like it.
They do have a bit similar one in pink here (http://www.ashasbridal.com.au/displayitem.asp?idProduct=2050)
I like but Im more of a practical thinker.... I couldnt see how I could dance in it, How I could walk in it... I would wanna have a blast at my wedding and not worrying about everyone standing on it or it tearing....

gorg..
And I think pale pink would be fab!
The type of 'pale pink' they use for bridal is so pale it almost looks white but not?
So I don't think it would look paris hilton at all..
unless you did get a pale pink that was obviously pink..
But I would have thought you meant something more like this..?
http://a.abcnews.com/images/GMA/ht_dress1_071004_ssv.jpg
I am looking at dresses at the moment, am thinking pale pale gold but can't find a design I like more than fifty others all of which I like.. :p
What colours are you going for with the wedding?
That's something I've been thinking about as I was going to either go for something inspired from this
http://www.thepartydress.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/pale-pink-black-wedding-copy.jpg
or something completely black and white, which would be hard to tie the pale gold and not sure what colour bridesmaids would wear other than black, which a lot of people think is weird.
I think a plain skirt would set off the bodice rather than compete with it, but your opinion is the only one that counts when it comes to your wedding dress!

The question is do you like it? You should pick a dress that you love
That dress it not my style but is very stunning and dramatic. I think it looks great in red - when i picture it in pink it is not as appealing to me.
Go with what your heart tells you

Thanks guys, i really appreciate your honest feedback.
I do like the pink one they have too but i couldnt carry off the back like that!
Also, like i said, id seriously have to find a similar colour/ style and see if it suits me, being a larger girl i dont know if it would.
I love how they say the dress is plus size but put it on a tiny model!
I just saw it and went "omg its beautiful". It literally took my breath away.
The pale pink was like what someone else said- "so pale its nearly white". Similar to the one with the open back.... but i like that colour. Not hot pink or anything, i am NOT a barbie!
But, long time away, i just loved it.....
Keep telling me what you think!

Anyone else?
i would do it with the beading in a contrasting colour. I had a white dress with black embroidery and a black and white boquett(sp) and i loved it

The bodice and the skirt don't seem to go together IMO... it's too overdone.
It COULD have been a beautiful dress, had they cut back somewhere, and went with less beading in the bodice. It's just a bit OTT.

My jaw hit the floor! It's so extravagant! I love the colour too.
Although the only thing to be careful about with poofy dresses like that.... I always wanted one until I tried them on way back when, is that they make your hips look SO much bigger than they are on some people... they made me look HUGE! So you would defintiely have to try it on and see how it makes you look.
Otherwise... WOW! You'd look amazing!

Newbeginnings thats a good point!
I've been trying dressed on lately.. ugh and I've got a lil chubby on the arms and hips ugh and waist... (don't people loose weight planning a wedding?!?)
Anyway I have long legs, and a reallly short torso - the only thing I can say is regardless of if you love it You Need To Try It On!!
Big princess skirts looked OK but only if the waist was a bit dropped - but then I am going strapless, and a princess line looked a million times better than a straighter top of the corsett..
I saw other designs I loved loved loved, and when I tried it on just looked terrible on my body type!
So go try it on, and try another 10 on and compare.
I wish you could take sneaky phone pics of the dress's on.
Personally I always think ooh lookin' fab when I look in a mirror, then I look at a pictures and think, what was I thinking?!?!
ETA - this is a dress I fell in love with, but not sure I can wear red..
Anyway it's a good example of a similar design but in a nicer (imo) red.

Really good points ladies! Zeltronica, i love that dress the lady is wearing... she looks stunning.
Your right, i like it but would need to try it on. What annoys me as well is that these are meant to be plus size dresses so they put it on a size 2 model who has no hips!
Of course, its all a mail order thing so it would be hard to try it on but id go to a couple of stores (who hate fat brides so that wont be too nice) to see what they look like.
I still love it though..... its just breathtaking........

Eh, I dont know I think bridal store employees hate everyone.
Seriously.
Every. Single. One. I've been to has either given me some major 'tude'
or just been an outright b!tch about something.. trying to tell me not to bother trying on a dress I loved because it was 'hard' to try on, or telling me oh we def don't have that in your size (size 14) so trying to squeeze me into size 10's so it would look horrible and I would hopefully IDK leave the store in tears or something so she could go back to doing nothing?
What type of wedding are you having? I can see that dress at a really nice church followed by a nice evening reception. I couldn't see that dress at a park service followed by a casual lunch, IYKWIM???

um.... he hasnt even asked me yet!!!! LOL :o Probably wont ever! Oh well!
I just LOVE weddings and i was having a look through the paper, saw and advertisement for a reception place (which happens to be our favourite resturant by the way). In the ad, they had a bride wearing a dress that had the gathered skirt, which got me thinking about how nice it looked. So i did a google search on 'plus sized dresses' and the red one came up. I really like the gathered skirt at the bottom. So, it just happened like that. Is that weird?
Zel im so sorry they are all snotty to you. They would hate me walking in- im at least a 26! Next time maybe you should go in and say something like "im sure Uncle Kevin wont be happy to hear about your service- excuse me while i call Canberra for a second..... *pretend to call someone* Hi, I was hoping to speak to my uncle Kevin- yeah John, its me, can i talk to Uncle Kevin?". :shame::shame: (Kind of like the old Julia Roberts thing). And not that people would probably care about Kevin Rudd too much but i cant think of anyone else!
