Help! DD is nearly one and has started grinding her teeth. I tried teeling her no and putting a dummy in hoping to block her from doing it IYKWIM. Any suggestions or reasons why would be much appreciated..
Thanks in advance ladies!

My little man is 8 months old and has just started grinding his teeth too! it sounds horrible doesnt it! I tell him no but he is a bit too young to understand what im trying to tell him. I guess you just have to keep persevering! Im hoping its just a phase he is going through :fingerscrossed:

My 10 1/2 month old DD has just started it too (with all of 6 teeth mind you  ). I don't think there's much we can do about it at the moment, just grin and bear it. Horrible sound though huh?

DD done it for a few weeks, quite badly, but im guessing it was just a phase for her. She hasnt done it in a while. Maybe they discover they can make a noise, and once they figure out how its just a bit novelty and game to them

It was just a phase for Jade, "Hey, I have these things in my mouth and I'm going to rub them together" . Now it's, "Hey, I've got these things in my mouth and now I'm going to use them".. biting and breastfeeding doesn't rock.

my DD started grinding her teeth as well, we asked the MCHN why she would be doing it and she said cos of sore gums (??) sounds reasonable enough. Apart from distracting her there is apparently nothing we can do to stop it:( its horried I can hear her from the other end of the house!!

My son has recently started to grind his teeth eversince his two front teeth started to come out. He's been rubbing them against the two bottom ones IYKWIM. He's 11 months btw. I suppose he likes the sound it makes. I tell him, "No" whenever he does it but he just looks at me quizzically. I think, like the others have suggested, it might just be a phase and will grow out of it. He does the grinding when he's awake though. I know of some people who do it while asleep. Could be caused by several reasons. Stress maybe?

DD has also started grinding her teeth and 12 of them make an awful lot of noise. She does it during the day without realising but I noticed last week she has also started doing it in her sleep and im just hoping it will stop once the teeth are all through

My ds is nearly 3y 5 months and he has been grinding his teeth for ages. He only does it in his sleep and there doesn't appear to be anything i can do about it. His teeth are ok and he stopped teething well before his 2nd birthday so I can't blame teething and he has been dosed for worms regularly so that isn't the problem!

I'm going to try and ignore it ... it bugs me, but I am just going to hope it goes away!:(

DD just started grinding her teeth a few days ago. I was going to post asking if this was normal. (a phase). Saw this thread...read it...mind at rest! Thanks all.

bec79, you took the words right out of my mouth!! I was just about to do likewise!!

DD just got her top 2 teeth this week & ever since has been grinding them against her lower 2. I was a bit worried, but then I thought maybe she is just testing them out, being so new & all.

I'm glad I found this thread!! I now feel reassured!
