I had an abortion 2 weeks ago and my pregnancy test is still really positive. Is this normal?

Why are you doing pregnancy tests hon?
You'll go for a post check up anyway won't you? They'll confirm that everything went fine then.
It would be normal to still get positives I think as it will take your body the usual amount of time to go back to normal.
Stop doing tests and try to get back to life as normal as possible.

I have done one test because I still feel pregnant. I wont be going back for a check up as I didnt have that option. I think they just said I can go back to my doctor. I dont want to still be pregnant. It was hard enough having to go through one abortion without having to do it twice. I have gotten on with my life I just want to know if it is normal.

I don't know hon.
Call your Dr in the morning.
I don't know where you had the procedure but most specialised places insist you return in two weeks.
But I think that's because they do a routine STD screen at the same time (that's why they take the blood tests) - not sure.
Call your Dr in the morning.
I think it would be normal to both still feel pregnant and get a positive - but I don't know.
Good luck :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:
I still felt pregnant for a while after mine. It took a full month before I didn't.

Ring the clinic, they will give you the best advice if you are still having pregnancy symptoms, it depends on how long ago you had the termination, but the clinic will be able to advise you.
They usually do an ultrasound to either ensure everything is removed afterwards or they put in the notes that the embryo was seen and removed.
My cousin has a abortion and she got a blood test done about 1.5 week later for other reasons and they tested for pregnancy and she got a positve...THAT WAS A BLOODTEST, She wasnt pregnant though...So you might be lucky..
Soz hun about this confusion ur going thru..:hugs:

Generally they do, but some clinics dont. Ive heard so so so so many stories where they have missed. Its a horrible thing for a woman to have to go through again...
For peace of mind, go see a gp- doesn't have to be your regular one. Even if you weren't planning to, you should anyway.
When I had mine, I wasn't given any antibiotics on discharge (and didn't know I should have been) and I ended up with a huge and extremely painful infection in my uterus which I had to go to emergency for. Had I of gone for a check up a week after the termination it could have been picked up on. As it was I am lucky now that I am still capable of having babies.
Please see your gp! :hugs:
It can be normal to have a positive test up until about 4 weeks post surgical abortion. However, it could also indicate that you may still have some hormonal producing tissue left (ie retained products of conception). This may just pass out on its own, or require another procedure.
If you are worried you should see your GP who can organise an utrasound to check things out. You should definately see your GP if you are still feeling this after the 4 week mark, or go to an ER if you feel feverish and or have increased bleeding.
