HELP! DD (almost 5mo) has insanely long and curly hair (she was born with it, and none of it has fallen out yet).

I noticed this morning that some of the ends on the back have started matting like dreadlocks! :crying:

We wash her hair every couple of days, and when she is awake she spends most of her time on her tummy or in her chair/bumbo but as she sleeps on her back, I can't stop the hair all rubbing together.

Can anyone recommend a solution? I'm thinking a leave in conditioner or similar - I can't really comb her hair as it just turns into a big fuzzy afro when I do. :p

Help please!!

The only way to stop it from getting matted is to brush it I'm afraid.

brush it... my DD is 20 months n her hair is really long n curly.. i hate brushing it coz it DOES go afro.. but it goes bak to curls not long after...

or ur other option is to cut it!!

Rub a tiny amount of coconut oil or olive oil (and I mean tiny) into her hair, then comb it out.

The oil helps control the frizzies which helps with the knotting.

By washing it frequently you're removing what little natural oils she has. You can also try simply rinsing her hair out rather than using shampoo.

My cousin who has heavy very curly hair uses the coconut oil trick all the time to keep her curls managable.

AND there is nothing in it that will harm your bub either!

my dd was exactly the same, she hated me brushing them out so some would get bigger n bigger! she never lost any of her hair eaither.
she is 18mths now n her curly hair is just under her arm pit in length now! ive been using spray on conditioner for quite a while now, as her hair still knots really easily - tried a few n ive found Palmolive rose petal leave in detangler works best! its for kids n is in a pink bottle... smells good too!

Always brush it before you wash it- that way the frizziness isn't an issue. :)

DD's hair is really curly and we love the palmolive rose petal spray too - I just have to use up the J&J one so I can go buy some. I also give DD's hair a little trim where it gets fuzzy (hers is fairly short when the curls are dry down past her neck when wet) this works twofold gets rid of the fuzz and thickens her hair up.:yelclap:
