Does any one have a list or know of any sites that list the foods to avoid in pregnancy? Most books list the standard things - but was wondering about things like Ricotta cheese and other odd things. I can't seem to find a comprehensive list of no no's.

Hi lucy

My obstetrician gave me a 2page thing on listeria and the dos and donts re: food in pregnancy. Ask your OB or Dr for something similar. The other place that was good was in pregnancy mags. Also, check out the bubhub link http://www.bubhub.com.au/infopregnancynutrition.shtml as they have a section on listeria, foods to avoid and why.

I ate ricotta and cottage cheese because there were just too many other dairy things I had to give up!! Hopefully bub will be OK with it! The way my OB described it was that it was like speeding - it only takes once to cause damage, however some people do it over and over and are fine. Why take a chance, right?

Hope this helps, and good luck with your pregnancy. I only have 9 days to go!

:) Sonia

Hi Sonia,

thanks for your information! I have actually had my bub - he is 5 months old ( believe it or not) but couldnot remember the exhaustive list of things you can and cannot eat to give advice to a friend who is pregnant. GOsh time flies when you are having fun!

Thanks again and best of luck with your new bundle of joy to be!!! :)

Lucy :)
