DD was born just over four months ago and in the last few weeks especially I've noticed I'm loosing a lot of hair (and frankly I didn't have that much to start with).

It isn't coming out in big chunks or leaving patches but it is starting to thin a little noticably (I think) and there's quite a bit in the shower.

I suspect my GP wouldn't put me on medication for it (which I understand you can get) so I wondered if there were other "remedies".

The hair loss is hormonal isn't it? Do you think the b/f is part of it?

Its normal and everyone gets it.

Unfortunately it's just part of having been pregnant. you lose hardly any hair at all while preg and then you catch up in a hurry afterwards.

Shortly it will stop being so excessive and you will go back to losing hair at the normal rate.

In a few months you will notice all that hair is growing back. I have curls at my temples where the hair is short!

Eventually your hair will grow out and look normal again. So don't panic.

Urghhh, horrible isnt it. Unfortunately it is part and parcel of hormones post pregnancy although I think it affects some more than others. Not sure if BF or not makes a difference, for the record I BF (and still am).
I lost allot of hair mainly around my temples and you could tell! If i wore my hair tied back you could see it thinner in those areas. My hairdresser used to cut my hair into 'layers' but had to stop because most of the front layer area was gone... My fringe also copped it, at one stage I was getting her to cut it specially to thin it out a bit, after the fallout we had to get hair from other areas to get more fringe there!! hate to say it but DD is now nearly a year and a half and my poor hair still hasnt recovered! My fringe is back to normal now but the hair I lost near my temples is only about 3 or 4 inches long so far so has a fair way to go to get to a decent length!!
Sorry! but you are not alone! just think of it as another 'show' of pride of having had such a precious baby (along with the stretch marks and extra weight! ha, ha!!!!)

Ohhh YESSSSSS!!! With DS2 I REALLY noticed this. It fell out in clumps and I went very thin on top. But thankfully it did all start coming back slowly. And only now - DS2 is nearly 15 months - has my hair started to thicken up and look normal again. It most definately is hormonal and I didn't get it as bad with DS1 as I did with DS2 for some reason.

My answer to it was cut my hair off :D. Went nice and short and it was much easier to clean all the excess hair falling out from the drain in the shower!! :p

Don't worry too much, it should come back!!!

oh - and just to add I don't think BF has anything to do with it, coz after 6 weeks exclusively BF DS2 he was then FF. My hair only started falling out about 3 months after DS2 was born. So its more about all your hormones returning to normal and I think this happens at a different rate with everybody.
