Can someone please tell me what I've done wrong?
I have some brand new Monkey Doodlez AIO's. I washed them 5 times before I used them. They have been worn once, I dry pailed them for 12hrs then washed in warm water with half detergent. I got them out of the machine and they are smelly. Have I done something wrong? I have hung them out and hopefully they will dry overnight.
Is that normal? Will the smell be gone in the morning when they're dry? Have I done something wrong?
How smelly and what kind of smell? Is it the amonia smell you get from wee or a lingering poo smell? (Ah the wonderful things mothers talk about huh! :p )
If it is an amonia/wee smell then the wash might not be getting enough of the wee out of the nappies. Are you doing a rinse first before you start the wash cycle? Or have you tried a heavy duty wash cycle instead of a regular one?
I found with my MCNs that no matter how clean they were there was always a weird lingering smell to them. The sun usually helped get rid of most of it though. I think because of what the nappies are being used for it is going to be hard to get the same crisp cleazn linen smell as the rest of your washing. :o

Thanks Teegzie.
The smell is more of a poo smell. I use liners too so the poo barely came into contact with the nappy itself, but the smell obviously gets comsumed in the fabric.
I just washed them in a normal cycle. Maybe I'll experiment and try a heavy duty cycle.
I am only a beginner at this MCN business, so I guess I just wanted to see if it's normal for the nappies to have an odour after being washed.

hmmmmm my magicalls are doing this too. They have been used for about 3 months now and still smell a bit when they are dry.
Try a bit of dettol in the rinse cycle it won't hyurt anything but will get rid of the smell. I did this when I had some hemp that smelt and it's been fine since.

A good day of full sun should rid the smell from them. Mine sometimes smell out of the machine too, i hang mine out at night and leave them in the sun all day the next day. My line is shaded so i use a clothes horse to chase the sun round the back yard all day....the things we do!
