Hi

I am living in Brisbane West - Ferny Grove looking for other mums to have a chat.

I have a 5 month old baby. I last visted just before I was due.

Anyone have any information about childcare, schools etc.

I am loving my time at home - can get a little lonely at times though

Cheers

I have a Amy who is 5 months as well. I am 29... nearly the big 30 though! I live in Pine Rivers Area - Kallangur. Looking to build a new house in Narrangba. I'm not probably the best person to ask about childcare etc, as I only moved here in Nov 05! Still finding my feet as well with these things. The only advice I was given was to put bubs on a waiting list as soon as for childcare, as they are busy. Have only put Amy on one at the moment, but really should look around at some others.

Hi I'm a 30+ mum (34 actually) - but I live over on the "dark side of town" - formally a northside girl, but I'm now living at Algester (near Sunnybank).

I'm basically starting again - with bub #2 due in December with nearly a 9 year age gap between 1st and 2nd - so I'll need to chat to everyone to remind me how it all goes!!!

Happy to chat anytime.

Hi,

I am 37yrs, 1st time mum to ds 4mths old and live in Bardon so not to far from you.

About childcare I put my ds onto a waiting list about 1mth into my pregnancy letting them know I was wanting a place 15mths in advance for Sept 06. When my ds was born I then went and visited the same centres again and extended the placement date to Jan 07.

I then found out at one location I am 33 on the list, another 182 and the third couldn't tell me whereabouts I was.

They all just said to me that around September/October 06 to start phoning them daily/weekly to let them know I was still looking for a place. Everytime you phone they apparantly notate it on the computer, your interest.

I'm only looking for 3 days and I am still to negotiate with my work about going back part-time, I have to apply to my work 8 weeks before I go back, therefore approx. October.

Anyway love to catch up sometime.

Cheers,

I have both my kids in family daycare, and thats the only way I have ever gone. Yes we had some carers that werent that great, but have also had some that have been fantastic. We moved here from sydney 18 months ago, and I rang wynnum family daycare, and they found me someone straight away... I was probably lucky, but think it doesnt hurt to try.

Hi

My baby is sleeping at the moment being 5 months, sleeps 3 times a day.
He has been teething and has just got back into his rountine again though he always wakes up before 5pm. He is not allowed to get up though until 6am.

Childcare is hard - I have put Ethan's name down at 10 places when he was two months but they can't tell me anything until October either.

X our fingers I guess.

I would like to stay home until he is 15 months or at least go part-time.

I am also thinking of putting his name down for primary and high schools - is that too early?

Would love to catch up some time

Cheers

Hello all :)

Anyone interested in meeting up go to the Ferny Grove thread - do a search on Ziggy and you will find it.

We have established a informal playgroup - take a look.

We are thinking of meeting at Arana Hills Park on the 28th June.

Cheers

Hi,
I am nearly too old for this thread - the 'big birthday' is looming in a few weeks!

We are in Paddington, having just moved up form sydney, having arrived from the UK last year. We are just renting until we find out more about the suburbs in Brisbane, so finding it hard to put the little ones name down as we dont know where we will be living! Any advice on childcare options, greatly appreciated!

I have an older son too who is now at pre-school 3 days a week, and i have thought about going back to work when he starts school next year, wherever in Brisbane that might be, which is another problem about putting his name down somewhere!

Anyway, how is everyone coping with babies at this age. is it just me or is everyone else absolutely exhausted

Our good friends little boy was also born on the 30th December. I was meant to have Ethan on the 30th but he came one day early. :smiliedance:

Come and meet at Arana Hills Park - across the road from K-Mart (Darwson Parade) (can't miss it) at 10.30am next Wednesday.

I met a few girls last time we met. There will be a few hubbub mums and babies there.

Bring a blanket and anything you want to eat.

Anyone else come along as well.

Hi to you all, I am a first time mum who is 33 yrs young :yelclap: , my pegnancy wasnt planned, and was a huge shock to me, it was the hardest 9 mths being pregnant suffered pre natal depression, and at times wondered if I was doing the right thing, I didnt think I could go through it, but then bubs was born and everything just felt right, I still have days where I feel like everything is against me, and have never cried so many tears but other days where I only hvae to take one look at her and I just melt, I never realised how tough motherhood really was, my partner and myself have gone through some tough chnages and upsets in the past year with my mood swings, but has stayed strong beside me. has anyone else felt this way?

Hi Teresa

I am probably the opposite to you - it took me three years to conceive and I was thrilled to be pregnant and also had a really good pregancy but when I had Ethan my hormones played up and I ended up being sleep deprived and had post-natal depression which really annoyed me seeing I really wanted Ethan.

Ethan has diagnosed with Reflex at 3 months and starting taking medication at that time but those three months were full of tears and wondering around with no sleep and day or night and he was feeding every two hours because he vomited all the time.

I never knew how no sleep can affect you so much - not only that he sucked all the iron out of me. I also found it hard to adjust to staying at home all the time - but it seems to have grown on me and I love being at home with Ethan now.

Things do get better :)

Cheers

I did not cope well at all when my first was born, but I was a lot younger, and always put it down to that, I think it is just the shock, as you really have no idea what its like until bubs arrives... Trust me, it gets easier....

Hi Ziggy
I live in Keperra , but my girls are older 4 and 2. You don't really need to put your baby's name down for schools yet, unless you are wanting to go Private. If you want to enrol him in a community Kindergarten program, you will need to do that straight away.
Do you have many other mum's with young babies that meet in the park?
I am a volunteer for Playgroup in the Ferny Grove Zone, and I get lots of calls from mums with young babies who are looking for a playgroup. The ones already established don't have lots of littlies. Would you be interested in starting your own playgroup?

hey all!

I'm 31 ( ...I think- I sort of try to blot things like that out these days) and like you nic71, I was a northside girl but now Im in Mt Warren Park ( near Beenleigh). Arrggh!

We've got a 10yo and 13 month old boy, and it really is like starting from scratch! Ive forgotten just about everything, and wheras before I was arrogantly sure I was doing everything perfectly, I now feel like I dont have a clue! One thing though, last night was our second night of sleeping all the way through without him in the bed YAY

I am keen to catch up with anyone around who wants to have a coffee or whinge or chat :ecomcity:
