new bottle fed baby

Hi

ijust started bottle feedin my son he is 4 months, and he seems to be a little confused.. he has a bottle every 3-4hrs at night.. fom about 7pm to the last being at 6:30am then he will go about 7hrs without one from then...

i cant work out how to change the pattern so that the big break between is over night.... does anyone have any ideas??

i had a night feeder too, and he just seemed to grow out of it on his own.

someone suggested stretching the night feeds out by a half hour at a time, then he gets hungry during the day.
also got told to make smaller feeds at night time, then he will get hungrier during the day.

can't say i tried either technique, so i don't know how successful it would be :confused:

hmmm thats a tricky one.... sounds to me like bubs has his days and nights mixed up a bit.

The only thing i can suggest is maybe keep trying with the bottles through the day.. even if he just has a few mls.

I would make the bottles during the day more regular and smaller for a little while to get him used to having more in the day and then make them bigger over time and smaller for the nights (does that make sense I feel like I rambled!) . What I was once told was that baby is less likely to drop the feeds they get the most out of so if you try getting the night time ones smaller and the day time ones bigger that might help.
