Hi girls this may seem a silly question, but not too me. As i am a first time mum and don't really have anyone else to ask this of.
I want to know what will we actually need (eg blankets and how many, clothes and how many, So I am talking about estimates too)
Hubby asked me to make a list of what we actually need, i am really not too sure. I could really use some help :(.
I think hubby freaked alittle yesterday when i told him that in reality that we only have 14 weeks left to get everything we need and set up everything, however as we are having twins it may even be sooner.
Thanks girls any help would be greatly appreciated.
I was a first time mum with my twins too :)
We got
2 cars seats
2 cots + 1 change table
twins pram (mountain buggy)
2 net style bouncers
2 automatic swings (the best!)
bonds wondersuits x 10
vests x 20
wraps...lots of and large ones x 10
sterilizer, bottles, teets
hug a bub wraps...great for feeding
different dummies just in case!
insulated bottle bag for milk runs to hospital if needed.
gosh can't think of anything else!
Although I did buys clothes we were given HEAPS so I really didn't need to buy so many. Ours girls were in special care for 4 weeks so we had time to get what we needed before we got home. Of all the items we got, the automatic swings were really great...settled the girls when u don't have the hands to hold them both at once! You can get them on ebay :)
I had twins first time too.
my essentials list:
- baby carriers (a MUST HAVE)... Ergo, moby-wrap, mei tai... whatever suits your fancy. One for you and one for DH.
- cots
-bouncers (we didn't have any electric swings for O and J... but I did for my other 2, and I highly recommend getting at least one of those, and a vibrating bouncer. I wouldn't get 2 swings though... lots of space!)
- romper suits/ all-in-ones
- you'll have winter babies.... so I recommend getting a couple of 'snug-as-a-bug's' (google it)
- 10 singlets
- baby blankets
- pram
- cots
- carseats
That's about it.... everything else you can get as it comes up really.

Yep, same as catt and ojand me our girls are our first....
Make sure you get wraps of different weights too being winter babies if you're given stuff it will more likely be winter type wraps so you may want to get some muslin ones too.
Don't forget nappies, if your using disposables don't go overboard on newborn size as you may not need them for long start with 4-6 boxes and buy more if needed. Stock up more on the next size as they will be in those longer.
Bibs will come in handy too and we use handtowels as "chuck rags" mum picked up a pile for $2 each. Being winter you may also want/need some socks and beanies - don't go overboard though.
I can't think of anything else to add, except to say I could not have survived without our rockers!!!

Hey Susan
Good question, I know how you are feeling it is a little over whelming at times lol
What we have and brought and needed are
2 cots
1 change table
1 twin pram
2 car seats
2 baby carries (a must have as it is must easier to carry bubs in these when shopping and trying to get around in stores when they are not made for double prams)
2 musical mobiles (1 for each cot)
lots of sheets (cotten)
Blankets (not to many as don't want to over heat bub, we sleep bubs in full suit a sheet and if it is a little colder we add a blanket and if it is really cold we have a small heater in the room)
2 cot matress protectors
a few 00000 outfits
a few 0000 outfits
more 000 & 000
nappies (newborn and crawlers if you know the sex of bubs)
face washers (lots we also use these when feeding)
2 3 in 1 fisher and price swings (these are a god send, when bubs are unsettled you can swing them to calm them down or use them as a rocker or a seat for when feeding)
wraps these are great for bed time or the pram or play time on the floor
stock up on baby bed time bath & lotion, baby powder, wipes, nappy rash cream
stock up on bibs
towels, lots of soft, cuddly towles
bottle steilizer
about 8 bottles with a different range of teats
bottle brush
toys, lots of soft colourful, cuddly toys
night light
story books
dummies
I don't know what else, I think that is the basics I am sure if you have a baby shower you will get heaps of other stuff too

Baby Bath with a plug & towels. Only thing i can think of that ive bought that isnt on the other list's.
If you're planning to bf, you will need a twin pillow (unless of course you are going to do them one at a time)
One of my biggest dilemmas I had was about logistics- when I am home alone and need to move the boys from lounge to bedroom or vice versa, what do I do with the one who goes second? Or how do I get both babies on to the pillow to feed by myself? This was easily solved by getting a vibrating bouncer (doesn't have to vibrate, but is a handy feature).
So, say for example it's the middle of the night and one wakes and I decide to feed both; I get the one that has woken, and take him to the lounge and sit him in the bouncer that is at the foot of the couch I feed on. I put my pillow on, and go and get bub no 2. I sit down, and put bub no 2 on the side he is going to feed on, but don't attach. Then I simply reach down and grab first bub, and then attach from there. And then repeat but in reverse to put them back to bed. (It took me a long time to figure this out how to do it by myself, so I hope you don't mind me going off on a tangent here!)
I will add though, if you're buying clothes, don't bother with a whole lot of cutsie outfits- all in one suits like wondersuits etc are ideal for the first 3 months at least. It may be a novelty to dress up one baby, but when you have two it fast becomes a hassle!
 TWIN FEEDING PILLOW!
I would do infomercials for those things if I were famous, I swear. They have made my life a zillion times easier!! I feel stupid when I think about how I tried to BF in hospital (and for the first week at home) with just silly pillows. It was a baby & boob slide-fest.
I think they're about 100$ but they are worth it!!! :yelclap:
Howdy,
I too am new to the baby scene and about to embark on twins...where do you get a twin breast feeding pillow from, it sounds intriguing.
Are all these things available from a normal baby supply shop? I'm yet to start looking...:smiliedance:

Or any big baby store such as baby bunting should have them in stock :)
