Hi
Just wondering if anyone here has used Imuran (Azathioprine)....... or knows anything about it? Our immunologist has said that this is the only thing left to try for our little boy, but I am loath to go down the immuno-suppression route without knowing much, much more.
My 3 year old has severe, uncontrollable eczema. That is to say that his body has been in constant flare for almost the entire past 3 years. Initially, topical steroids would work to lessen the flare, but it never completely went away. Steroids are no longer working.
We have tried everything....oils, lotions, potions, supplements, medications, antihistimines, a multitude of different steroids (both topical and internal), homeopathy, naturopathy, sacro-cranial therapy, NAET, Advanced Allergy Elimination, 2 elimination diets, organic only, multiple allergy testing (both western and alternate modalities), chinese herbs, acupuncture (laser), 12 different laundry detergents, all cotton clothing, etc, etc, etc......I am sure many of you know what it's like .
We are now at a stage where my son is wet wrapped constantly.......not much fun for a 3 year old:(. And the constant vigilance to make sure he hasn't removed his wraps and is scratching, rubbing, etc, as well as the re-creaming, re-wetting and re-wrapping (with him screaming and fighting us all the way) many times a day is taking its toll on our quality of life. Not to mention that on the days he has to attend daycare he comes home looking like hamburger.....even though he is sent in wraps!
Any info on Imuran would be appreciated.
