I know this has been done before, but I am curious.

I know there are many of us on here that have fussy feeders and refluxers :hair: and I was just wondering how much everyone's fussy feeders drink in a 24 hour period???

I am constantly 'Freaking out" that DD is not getting enough and I know that if often helps to hear that other people's LO's are drinking the same amount and doing just fine!

My DD is almost 7 Months old and she drinks between 600 - 800mls in a 24 hour period
She also has 3 solid meals a day.

It is an absolute battle to get even this much in to her!!! I swear she could just take or leave formula and food! She also has bad reflux and is mediacted.

She is a very happy baby other than feeding times and is steadily gaining weight. She is currently just below the 50th percentile.

How much do your fussy feeders drink in a 24 Hour period???

My daughter who is 18months now was that bad a feeder she had a NG tube in, at 7 months she was having about 500mls in fluid and some solids. I know its hard and easier said than done but i found once we backed off when it came to feeding she gradually got better! Her peadiatrition said that even though she is small below the 3rd centile in weight, she looks healthy and is a happy little girl he is not worried. Just make sure she has wet nappies that her wee is not dark yellow and strong in odour. Or if her eyes and mouth are looking dry or sunkin in is a sighn of dehydration. It does get easier, i found at about 12months when she could handle lumpier food and finger food things improved, she liked the independance. We were medicated with Losec until 12months as well.

My DD doesnt have reflux (although my son did, :hugs:, Its rough).
She is 7 months old and having between 600-800 mls in 24 hours.
She only started solids 3 weeks ago and is having 1 meal a day.
It doesnt seem like alot but she wont have any more than this.
I feel she is getting enough as she is in the 90th percentile, lots of wet nappies and is very happy.
Is she following a steady curve on the weight charts?

Hey Missmilliesmum,

It is so hard not to worry about how much they eat isn't it. We have tried everything! Different bottles and teats, Losec (which she is still on we are week 4 into a 6 weeks trial, it hasn't made too much of a difference in the amount she eats but she isn't in as much pain) also currently trialing a Lactose Free formula under direction from doc (on the 2nd tin and no difference, actually I think she doesn't like the taste). You start to wonder if doing all this is making a difference at all...... I firmly believe that my DD has a bad bottle aversion now from it all and I am trying to relax more about her feeds and not force it on her so much in the hope that it turns into more of a positive experience. But it is so hard, you worry that they are not getting enough.
I would say that 600-800mls and 3 solid meals is good!!!!! My DD is 5.5months and she would have about the same, somedays less, rarely more but she is healthy and happy and meeting all her milestones well ahead of time.

So I am trying to relax more about it as feeding has been such a drag and a stressful experience for both of us since birth and I am trying to turn that around.

I think you are doing well. My DD loves her solids!!! Absolutely loves them. I think she will just be one of these babies that loves food more than milk.

I used to freak that DS wasn't getting enough to drink either, but at the time (him being between 6 and 9 months) was only drinking 280ml in a 24 hour period. Turned out he didn't like the taste of the formula and as soon as we changed it he started drinking a LOT more. We had CMPI so was on a prescription formula and as it turns out apparently soy formula IS a sweeter, nicer option (well DS thinks so anyways)!!
