Hi all,

I've been asked by a few of my girlfriends (who know that we're doing ivf and will find out on Thursday as to whether or not we have been successful) about booking your obstetrician.

They keep asking me assuming we get a positive result, when do you book in to see your ob? Is it once you get a positive result or is it after you have had the 6 week scan with your FS?

What did you ladies do? What's the norm?

Any help would be appreciated and then at least I can answer them instead of saying "I don't actually know and that's a very good question".

Speak to you all soon.

I got pregnant on our first attempt of artificial insemination. I made a decision not to use my gyno (who handed the AI and all my other history) as my ob (long story), but he gave me a list of people he recommended. I was 7 weeks pregnant before I finally got around to ringing around to see someone as I didnt think there was any hurry as I had already had a number of tests/scans with my previous doctor -- I was very wrong. I got half way down the list before I found a doctor who wasnt already fully booked. I would recommend organising an Ob as soon as you find out you are pregnant and then as soon as you find out what hospital they work out of booking a bed there too.

:fingerscrossed: Good luck -- I hope everything works out great for you!!

Hi

My fertility specialist is an obstetrician/gynaecologist so if I EVER do manage to get pregnant I will just stay with him.

Sorry, no help as usual :D

Sharon, I made my appoinment after my 6 week scan. But I would recommend doing it as soon as you find out because some hospitals can get booked out really quickly these days!!!!

Hi Shajake - Have you booked your OB? And a hospital? I got a referral to an OB... I am yet to meet him, but have heard that he is very good and has an excellent sense of humour!! Yesterday I booked into St John of God in Berwick... they are still renovating, but that should be finished in October... Being a first time mum-to-be I had no idea that one has to book these things so early to avoid missing out... I have my first scan next Wednesday... it is then that we find out if it is one or two bubs LOL Ohh and I got a bag of goodies too... a Bounty Bag? After next week, I will start to look at nursery items, etc... I have not bought anything yet. Once again - Congrats on your BFP!!!! :hugs:
