Hiya all  A question for those of you who have an Ergo carrier - what's it like for your back support? I know the Baby Bjorn Synergy has good back support and a kind of 'brace' which is very useful for someone like my partner who has chronic back problems (unlike the old style BBs which had all the weight on the upper shoulders - v bad).

Thing is, I haven't been able to find anywhere that stocks the Ergos to try one on, so I'm not sure how it goes re back support (the pictures make it hard to tell how adjustable and well it fits). We would prefer an Ergo over a BB (for a number of reasons), but not if it's not going to be as supportive for the parent carrying the infant. That's the reason why a sling is out, too, unfortunately. Thanks :)

LOL I'm so blind! Thanks heaps Soren - we were in there looking at the BBs a few weekends ago. I didn't see the Ergos at the time, but I wasn't looking for them either. :o

I have carried before my children in the ergo for more than an hour and have had no probems with my back. I have carried my DD in it last time when she was 3 and at 20kgs and had no problems

They are built like a backpacking type back pack IYKWIM.. so most of the weight is carried by your hips rather than shoulders/back.

I have one, but I can't get bubs in the bl00dy newborn insert. To be honest, its a PITA. BUT I am living in hope that once hes 4 months ill get him in it easily without the insert. Otherwise there will be one going on Ebay soon!

Ah ok. I'm guessing some infants go better in the insert than others.. that's something we'll probably have to trial and error.

Thank you all for the replies :)
