Hi all

I have been using the Amolin liquid for all Ethans washing and was wondering when people stopped using seperate washing liquid/powder and started using whatever they used on their own clothes??

I cant remember when i did with Samuel.....

I am almost finished my bottle of Amolin and Ethan is 6 months ..

Whats your thoughts?
Do i buy more Amolin or do i start using our powder?
We have no sensitive skin issues in our family and Ethan is showing no signs of being sensitive skinned?

Thanks

If there are no sensitive skin issues, it shouldn't really be a problem.

I'll just stand over here with all the other ladies who still have to spend extra money on the stuff :crying:

OMG! I never thought about whether baby's clothes should be washed separately! Good question Samsmum04! I will watch this thread closely for advice:D

We only use Amolin for all the clothes. Our son has severe eczema so it is best we use the same. My wife only ever uses sensitive.

My ds is nearly 3 and I have used Amolin from the first load of washing when I washed his tiny weeny size 000000 clothes :) I started using it because Lux flakes made me want to :barf: lol

I have only recently changed to PURITY Sensitive (also has a baby on the label) because it is about $1 cheaper. I use the same liquid for all our clothes.

No skin allergies that we know of so that helps.

Hope this helps.
Sandi :)

I only used lux flakes until my DD's were about 8 weeks old. After that I just used the same stuff I used for our clothes but up until they were about 6 months I would rinse them twice.

I used to use Omo sensitive for all of us then it got to expensive and I've now changed to Purity Sensitive, though I use it in all of our clothes.

I used Amolin on dd's clothes until she was about one. Now I just use whatever I wash my own clothes in. Don't ask me why but I still wash all dd clothes seperately, I will not mix them with any of our clothes. Maybe I'm just weird:rolleyes:

Not wierd, I wash all our clothes separately. There is no way I am washing my clothes with DP's socks!

I'm not much of a house-wife obviously1:eek: I have just chucked everything in(ours & theirs) together from the day I brought them home! No special detergents or anything

I must say we only changed our washing liquid because both of our boys had extremely sensitive skin, this has surfaced again in DS2, which is the reason we've gone back to basics other wise we'd be using the same old one we normally would just use for us.

Me too, I even wash towels with clothes some days, just to get a full load.

I stopped using Amolin around six months. DS has sensitive skin, but if i wash his things in Cold Power he seems to be okay.

I guess just try it and see!

I mostly wash Eloise's clothes separately from ours, but I use Amolin still for her simply because it smells so nice! For all our other wash though, we use Omo Sensitive. Soap tends to make me itchy and Omo seems to be the least itchy for me.

My son has very severe eczema and for that reason
I only use Amolin though we do use Purity and the Earth one
cos it is cheaper.
I wash my girls clothes, then my boys, then my baby's,
then mine then hubby's
then towels, etc.
In other words i do it all seperately unless i have to otherwise
using the same detergent.

Gawd, you must use a ton of water.

Gawd, you must use a ton of water.

No I don't think so. I wash everything separately and would still use the same amount of water you do. I wait till I have a full load as I am sure Kymmy probably does.

I've used OMOmatic (our regular powder) for all of DS's clothes and nappies from day dot. We don't have skin sensitivity issues here though. I do seperate the washing loads though...you know, lightly soiled clothes (DS's and mine), heavily soiled clothes (DH), sheets, towels, nappies etc

I doubt it uses any more water than chucking them all in together because a) I wait for a full load and b) our machine has an auto sensor to match water levels to amount of washing. It just means the washing is generally cleaner and not lint-y.

heavily soiled clothes (DH),

I think the word you are looking for is stinky, I was my clothes separately from DP's for that very reason!

 I do wonder how his clothes get so much dirtier than mine even if it's been a lazy weekend inside!

Gawd, you must use a ton of water.

who? me?
yeah, don't you? with 3 kids?
I do a few full loads of washing a day.
I think my life revolves around washing
and getting it dry so every one has clean clothes to wear.:)

FourAngelKisses

I don't, I used to, until my machine died, lol. Then I became the washing Nazi. They aren't allowed to get changed after school, they change their uniforms daily, jammies weekly and they can only get dressed once on weekends, no getting changed 30 times like they used to.

I was doing 3 loads a day, plus nappies every second day. Now I'm down to one load every 1-2 days.

kymmy
07-06-2006, 18:05
Well, you are the smarter one then!
I tend to change the boys at least the once during the day.
(neither are TT)
But I try to only wash when I have to...

I feel mean being a nazi about it, but it was crazy before. And having to go from using a 6.5kg machine to using my inlaws 4kg one was annoying. I was spending 4hrs a day there just washing clothes. So I became a mean mummy.

That is fair enough!
I think we have to make sure we aren't doing more than we can handle.
Parenting is hard enough without making it even more so.

When #2 was little, she developed eczema, so I washed all our clothes with Amolin.

I've since swapped to Tri-nature Alpha plus, and use that for everyone, even 4 m.o. DS.

Recently I was at my mother's, and used some Amolin which was left there from my previous use, and THEN DS developed eczema. I'm home again and back on the Aplha Plus, and it is going away again.

I'm not about to do different loads of washing for different people in the family if I can find one detergent which is suitable for everyone.
