Because he wanted it.

She rang me knowing how I feel about it. I gave her info, stats, personal opinion. I didn't sugar coat it. I know in her gut she didn't want it done because why would you ask someone so against it for advice?.. But she let it happen because she thinks because he is his child too he should have a choice.

I chatted to her whilst he had it done to take her mind off it. I felt like getting on a plane as fast as I could and going and saving my beautiful little nephew.

She told me not to hate her. I told her I never could but it breaks my heart to know what the little man has just gone through. My Mum, Dad and I are all so upset.

:( Ouch.

I hope it heals well though, so that now that its over, nothing more has to happen to his boy-bits.

I feel sick.

I had someone close to me do it to their son...I know that helpless feeling. :(

Awww poor little man and your poor sister:(

I remember seeing my nephews after they were done. You couldn't even hold them properly and nappy change time was so not fun.:( After seeing that my sis was very happy she never got her oldest done (she was looking at it because my parents suggested it but couldn't afford it) and then it was never a question when her youngest was born.

I really feel for your sister having to do something to her child that she didn't want to do.

But she let it happen because she thinks because he is his child too he should have a choice.

What about the choice of the only person who counts: the boy?

It's cases like this that sheet home the obscenity of the whole business. I try to keep my emotions in check in this forum, but it really does make me feel ill.

Yes, I must admit that it should at least be to both parents wishes if it is to be done...

Your poor sister, to feel pressured into something she didn't want to have happen.

Same on both counts.

I'm sorry E, how awful for you. It's akin to watching someone hit a child, when all you want to do is protect them and you can't. WHEN will the law step in and outlaw this <self-censored> procedure???

Hugs hon. :hugs:

I also had someone close to me do it after she asked my advice and talked to me about it alot...told me she regretted having her first done...and I think in the end that was the reason she had the second one done - didn't want them to be different and have to explain to the older one why :(

I agree John and that is what I said... Along with so many other things. He has no reasons too, he doesn't believe it is cleaner, he has no religious reasons for it... He just wanted it done.

Thanks T. And I agree...

I kept saying to her, sure he will be same as Dad but different to all his friends because the stats are so low. (I also asked her if he was going to glue pubic hair to the baby too if he didn't want bub being different to him down there!!!)

I was surprised at what the doctor said though, he told her there was no benefits and that the number of boys being done was very low so he would be different from other boys. Sadly though no info was enough for him to choose against it.

Poor little monkey :( I know my sister said to me when I have a baby he'll be done. I was like  WHY??? her response was because that's what you do :( No, no, no! Mum promptly had a word to her lol.

I don't understand how when faced with the facts someone could still do it, I just dont :(
