Ohhhh BB does my head in....dont get me started on Gretel....surely she is past her used by date? A more interesting host (and housemates) and I proberly would watch it.
I dont live too far from Dreamworld so it seems a little surreal that it is happening just a few mins up the road.

Nerves are normal. Lots of people will tell you horror stories but take them all with a grain of salt.....once I had an epidural labour was bliss
You mustnt be too far away from where I live if you are only 10 mins away.
Yep, this weather is great. I put my sister and niece on a plane back to Canberra today (it was 13 degrees there today). I was born here so am used to this fabulous weather.

Life is good thanks Greyeyes.
Dont stress about the midwives Luckie.....they all have their own opinions.
The important thing to remember is to take their advice and use it ONLY if you feel comfy with it. They are there to help you and no matter how patronising they may come accross they really do have your best interest at heart. I cant comment on GC Hospital, I went to Pindara Private...thoroughly recommend that hospital, in fact just had a second stint there two and a half weeks ago for an operation and they were great then too.

as cheaky little monkey said, only listen to what you want from the m/w, i've never birthed in a hospital so don't know what its like having diferend m/w's all the time,

hmmmm dealing with different midwives......well that is one of lifes interesting little adventures I would have to say (said tongue firmly in cheek  ) In all honesty most of them do a fantastic job.....we all get a little terse when dealing with people, so new mums would be no different. I guess they cop the flak from us as we are usually highly tense and tripping out about being new mums .... not a job I could do that is for sure
does everyone here just about have their babies delivered by a ob??? i prefer to have one m/w during the whole pregnancy, that way you get a good raport with them and hopefully have a fairly relaxing birth, i'm hoping to go totally drug free this time, that means no gas, hopefully i'll be able to do it
righty o its 11.30, think its time for me to go to sleep, been cool chatting to ya
night night

I cant honestly say whether the majority go with an OBGYN, but for me it was a personal choice as we had trouble conceiving and were investigating the IVF ICSI way prior to (by way of miracle) concieving our daughter.
I have a great relationship with my doctor and wanted to continue down this track as I also had some complications through my pregnancy.
I also vowed NEVER to go through the public system and have a midwife (no offence to the good ones out there) deliver a baby after watching my sister have a nightmare time with 2 totally incompetent midwives. So it was a personal choice.
If going with a midwife is the way a woman wants and feels comfortable with I say more power to them  and I hope that everyone gets to experience their birth/s in the manner they envision (doesnt always happen, unfortunately) be it drug free or drug filled. At the end of the day the birth of a healthy baby and healthy mum at the end of it is all that matters.
Thats cool, if I had the money or the insurance I would probably be going private as well, but I don't so I can't, I can see why you wouldn't want a m/w after seeing your sister, probably would scare me too, I supose at least with a ob you has someone there incase anything goes wrong,
I hope the m/w i've got is nice, havn't met her yet, if at anytime I don' tthin she's up to scartch I won't be going with her, I don't se the point in having someone you don't trust deliver your baby
and as you said the safety and health of both mum and baby is what matters most

I hope you get a good midwife greyeyes, there are plenty out there that do do a great job, its unfortunate that, like any profession, the cranky or bad ones can tend to taint the image. Good luck with the new birthing centre (if I recall correctly that is the one you are booked into>??) it has been getting a fair bit of write up in the local papers

I am hoping that I am out of hospital as soon as i can after bub is born so i dont have to worry about the midwives there! Would rather be home than there anyway!
only 20 more days luckyme, good luck:thumbsup: , i will be leaving the birth centre not long after giving birth, there max stay is 12 hours i think, its nicer to be at home anyway, and the m/w come and visit you after bubs is born to make sure everything is fine.
Cheeky little monkey, I havn't seen any of the write ups in the paper about it, I didn't even know it existed till the biginning of last week lol, when one of the m/w there told me about it

Ive seen 2 or 3 articles about it from memory over time. Most recent was in the GCoast Bully and I think there was an article in the local free paper. From memory the set up for the new birth centre was about 800K (dont quote me on that  ).
wow thats quite a bit of dosh, i'll be going to my appt at 1pm so will let ya know what its like, i think the m/w is going to take me around to have a look

Jo How was the M/w appt ?
Hi Jo., my appt went really well, and the m/w was lovely, the rooms are huge, with a huge birthing pool and a huge bed, its cool they have fridges and coffee stuff in there as well, I think i will like birthing there, also went for a scan yeterday and there was a baby with a great heart beat, i'm so happy
thats is fantastic news jo,i was thinking about you.
CONGRATULATIONS
so how far are you now? did they tell you?
