Hi girls,

I have had a real craving for soup lately. Im currently hooked on the velish winter vegetables one.

But its expensive and would love to make my own. But no idea how.

I like thick soup thats not chunky if that makes any sense.

These are the ingredients on the back of the packet i like:

Carrots, potatoes, onions, celery and cabbage, water butter (from milk) butter milk powder and a whole lot of other stuff.

any suggestions on how i could make this soup would be great.

Or share your favourite soup recipes!!!

I would just cook up all the veges in a big pot with some vegetable stock then put it through the blender.

Adding rice often makes it go thicker, if you let the rice sit a bit longer than normal.

But yes, it is fine just to put it all through the blender to mush it all up. That would work fine.

:iagree: although i use a blender on a stick.

My faves are (and they're more 'purees' rather than 'soups' i think:

Pumpkin
Sweet potato
Potato
Tomato
Cauliflower
Broccolli

and then when i have lots of leftovers i make miscellaneous ones.

Plus i usually add a few potato's to add some more substance, and lots of sour cream (or condensed milk).
Goodluck! i'm sure you'll do great

I have a chicken barley and vegetable soup slow cooking right now

I like to use lentils or barley to add a bit of substance and I either puree with the stick blender or mash it.

Oh, I change my vote, mashing would be better I think. Would be thick but would still have a bit of texture to it instead of it being puree.

Yum!

I've been mashing my soups too now that I don't have a blender, it's not too bad! :D

Mixed vegetable soup (http://www.recipedelights.com/recipes/soups/mixedvegsoup.htm)

It's not a smooth soup, but you could probably just mash it up.

Trilogy of vibrant vegetable soups... (http://www.kvbc.com/Global/story.asp?S=9723174)

Interesting title LOL but these ones are smooth.
