View Full Version : sometimes LG can't service their goods

If you're the kind of person who might get a bit upset when an appliance you paid a bit for and would normally use a lot goes out of service for months, as I am, then I'd say give everything made by LG a wide berth next time you're out shopping. If you have a problem with them that goes beyond what your local repairman can resolve, then you are in for a battle that may last many many months.

Our machine's been out of service since January 10th. In early March our local repairer declared he couldn't fix it and contacted LG for a replacement.

After a while of "processing time" LG called up and asked us to go to another repairer. This poor bloke figured out exactly what the problem was, went back to his office to order the parts...only for them not to be sent out, which I eventually discovered was because the parts were discontinued. LG weren't telling the repairer or me that though, bless 'em.

So that takes us to mid-May. When they eventually realise they are going to have to replace the machine. Since then I'm still calling them for news every two days !

Apparently the problem now is that our model isn't made anymore (its an LD14AT-2, the current model is an LD14AT-3) so they can't decide what machine to send us as a replacement.

I am reliably informed by customer service that this is so complex a problem that it's taking three weeks and counting to resolve ! So I don't know whether to  or :banghead: at this news.

Perhaps knowing the number that comes after 2 is not part of basic training down there ? I did think it was so spectacularly lame that I ought to at least try to tell (I mean warn !) the world about this kind of thing.
