Hello, I have read this forum for a while but this is my first post =)

I am 23 and have a 4 1/2 year old daughter. No problems at all with that pregnancy. We have been trying for another baby since having her, and I had 1 miscarriage at 13 weeks approx 1 year after having her.

I am now 9 weeks pregnant, finally! But having some trouble... around 5 weeks I had a small amount of spotting on 2 separate occasions, the doctor told me not to worry. At about 6 weeks I started bleeding heavily one night after having sex - bright red blood running down my legs. I thought for sure I would lose the baby then. Went to the hospital and they told me not to have sex again and to just wait until my scan. (a previously booked dating scan referred by my GP, 3 days later). Had the scan and there was a heartbeat :D I was so happy. It was only a dating scan so they didn't do any checks or anything to see where the blood was coming from.

But since then I have not stopped bleeding. It has been just over 3 weeks. The blood is now brown in colour, and quite light flow (maybe a teaspoon of fluid each day). I still feel sick in the morning and sore breasts etc... so I guess this is a good sign?

I live in a small town which is kinda isolated - to get an ultrasound I have to go to the city which is about 130km away. I m fed up with my GP, she never calls with the results for blood tests (after she says she will), is never available when I try to contact her, doesn't return calls, and is expensive.. the only other doctor's office has no women doctors.. I'm kinda embarrassed to see a man :dizzy:. I can go to the hospital and wait for 4-6 hours before being seen.. but I guess they'll just tell me to wait and see what happens.:ecomcity: (sorry if I'm ranting -_-)

Has anyone else had bleeding like this for a longish time and had a good outcome? I'm terrified I'm going to lose this baby we want sooo much :(

I don't have any information to share with you, but I couldn't leave your post sitting there unanswered! :hugs::hugs::hugs:, what a horrible thing to be going through. I think I'd give the other doctors a go; if you were to see an obstetrician there'd be a pretty high chance they would be male anyway :)

If this was happening to me I would ask for a few beta HCG tests a few days apart to make sure my levels were rising as they should. It's not too much to ask for your dr to call you back with results, especially when it's about something so stressful.

Best of luck :goodvibes:

Oh how stressful for you hon. You must be so frustrated. Many many ladies on this site have had bleeding like you describe and I've seen them go on to have normal, healthy bubs. I really don't have any suggestions for you and it's so hard to say what could be happening. You really need to have a blood test to find out your hormone levels. I think it's the only way to be sure that you are still pregnant. If the embryo has broken up over those few weeks that you were bleeding, you could still have enough pregnancy hormore to test positive in a home test and to be getting sore breasts etc. Go and see a male doctor. They won't go poking around down there so you don't have to worry about that embarrassing you. I really have my :fingerscrossed: for you and hope that you sort this out really soon. Leanne :flowerz:

I sure have! I had spotting for about a week, and then one night when I woke to use the loo, I got a massive gush with bright red blood running down my legs. I thought it was all over. The blood only gushed that once, but I kept bleeding for about another 3 weeks. I had what is called a subchronic heamatoma which was picked up on my first scan. It's a blood filled sac that forms near the baby.
In alot of cases, it will be reabsorbed by the body and you won't get any bleeding. In my case, it bled out. I had a scan after the huge gush and the haematoma was gone. PHEW.
Here I am not at nearly 30 weeks pregnant, all going well. I haven't had a single spot of blood since about 11 weeks.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. It's quite scary.
I would haed into your Doc's Office and demand to get your results. That's poor form of your doctor. I have a male doctor, but he is great;) They aren't that scary:)

All the best. I'd be follwing up on your scan results as if you d/did have a haematoma, it would probably have been picked up;)

thank you all for your replies and support =)

I tried ringing the other doctor but can't get an appointment at a suitable time any time soon, so I called the centre my GP works at and made an appointment to see different GP there tomorrow morning (I think it's a man too lol but nvm). I will ask for some blood tests. How many days apart do they need to be?
I think the bleeding has almost stopped now, just a small amount of very light coloured stuff.

wow that haematoma stuff sounds scary, I don't think it would be that tho, because surely they would have said so during the scan? Are they easy to spot? I have all the pictures here. hmmm.

thanks again! =)

well I am 10 weeks today (thursday). The bleeding had stopped for a couple of days but then I had a bit more last Friday, so I went to the hospital on Saturday, waited 3 hours before I got to see the doctor and she just told me to go home. After all the waiting and not knowing what's going on I was so upset and frustrated and ended up breaking down and crying in the doc's office - so she decided to do an internal exam.
The bleeding had stopped by then, she told me my cervix was closed, and did a quantitive HCG test, and told me to come back Tues morning for another.
Today I went in to get my results and saw a different doctor, he told me my results were fine, everything was normal, and to stop worrying.
Soo everything was happy happy joy joy, until this evening I get a call from a nurse at the hospital saying they would like me to come in for another test. me - "oh... um, why's that? the doc told me everything was fine"... she didn't even know I had been in and saw the doc this morning, and my results were NOT fine, my HCG level has dropped for 56000 to 48000 (from midday sat to tues morning). So I have to go have more bloods early tomorrow morning then go back later in the day and see the doctor again.
argh this is so stressful & frustrating... I hate not knowing and waiting waiting waiting. I have googled around a bit and they say HCG levels usually drop/level off around 10-12 weeks... but not sure if this is tooo much of a drop?? Guess I'll have to wait til next week to get tomorrow's test result back too:hair:

That must be so stressful and frustrating :hugs:. I hope they get a definitive answer back to you ASAP!
