Just wondering if anyone had Ovulation Induction due to very irregular/ long cycles.

What was involved from the first time you went to your first appointment until you ovulated.

Hi Little Toad,

I am in the 2ww of my second cycle of OI. I did three cycles of clomid first with no ovulation. Feel free to ask me any questions. I ovulate only a couple of times a year due to polycystic ovaries. I do my OI through an IVF clinic, what were you told at your first appt? Do you mean first appt from when you get AF?

Hi Soph,

When you went for your first appointment to say "hey i'm not ovulating", what was the first step.. clomid? SO if that doesn't work you then go onto OI? what does that actually involve?

When they put you on clomid do you have to have a laproscopy first? what tests do they give you for that?

Little Toad,

I sort of knew i would probably have a bit of a problem as my older sister has had to do OI as well and my mum had trouble conceiving as well - she did have 4 kids over 14 years though!
Make sure you go to a proper fs. Have you got one already?
They will do a blood test and internal ultrasound to see whats going on. As i said I have PCO with up to 70 follicles on each at any time, under 10 is normal, this was obvious from the begining.
My fs did then do a laparoscopy, all was fine, and then put me on the clomid for 3 cycles. Clomid did nothing for me - no o. Then we had to have more blood tests, me and dh, to check for Hepatitis and HIV etc and dh had to do sperm analysis.
Then we were referred to ivf nurse who shows you how to do injections etc and gives you all info you require. OI is tracked really closely by the clinic (quite a few blood tests and ultrasounds) to make sure you don't develop too many follicles. Basically what they are doing is getting your body to mimic a normal ovulatory cycle ie. releasing an egg or two in this case a month.
All the above i have explained to you has taken pretty much a year to get this point, it can be a slow process but my sister assures me once you have success you forget all about it.
Hope that makes sense?

I forgot to say that other doctors will do things slightly differently, this is just how it has worked with mine. S
