Frying Eggs

OMG I was just frying some eggs in my non stick frypan, when one of them exploded:eek: has anyone else had this happen? Does anyone know why it might have happened?

I hadn't even flipped it yet, it'd been in the pan less than a minute I reckon

:laughing: I think i remember a similar thing happening to mum when we were younger....it happened when she cracked the egg it just exploded everywhere scaring the hell out of us...it was sooooo funny! Did yours exploded as soon as you cracked it???

I think it might because it’s too old/off or something??

No, I cracked it into the pan and then less than a minute later, it exploded!!

from what I remember, it's got to do with water in the egg somehow...the yolk The water turns to steam and then makes it explode when it gets hot enough....

I hope you didn't get burnt or anything. I've been frying eggs in my Breville Sandwich Press lately, just haven't been closing the lid. They taste yummy!!

What a cool idea! I wouldnt have thought of cooking an egg in the sandwich press! I will have to give that a go - it would be so much healthier than frying anyway.

I quite like poached eggs and have a microwave egg poaching thingy and I have this terrible habbit of leaving the microwave on for too long and ending up with an exploded poached egg! - I am truly useless at cookign eggs - cant get the right consistency with boiled eggs either but luckily hard boiled is not a problem!!

I do everything in it, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, crumbed fish fillets, reheating slices of pizza.
