my baby boy is 10months old and wakes an average of 8 to 10 times a night! He always wants to be breastfed and as im usually so incredibly tired i just give in and feed him. i know he gets enough food during the day because he has 3 big meals a day and snacks. he also has a breastfeed every 3 to 4 hours.
tonight im starting cc in the hope that we can get him to sleep through the night! or at least wake up a lot less. we're doing the 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 min thing.
i've also been told that giving him some water instead of milk may help...
does anyone have any tips? or advice?
wish me luck

A friend of mine gave me some great advice on CC and it was the 3 P's:yes:
Patience
Persistance
Pi$$ed Off
Apparently if you can get through those 3 things you will be fine hehe.
I found alot of the 3rd one was in my sons case worth it now he is an excellent sleeper sleeps through every night and puts himself to sleep.

Hey there, I had the same thing with my DD and she now sleeps thru occasionally waking every now and then.
I went for the Tizzie Hall approach of letting them cry for the selected amount of time for their age.
So for DD it was...
If she woke, Go in and tuck her back in walk out and leave her for up to 20 mins if needed after the 20 mins go in and stay with her until she was asleep, Not patting or rocking just with a firm hand on her bum.
This only happened the first time she woke at 11 pm and cried till 11.20 went in and she went back to sleep within 10 mins
Again thru the night she woke and went in and tucked her in and walked out and she self settled herself within 10 mins..
If you need any more help or info please PM me...

thanks for the replys :)
so far it's going well...he's woken 4 times since he went to bed...the first 3 times he went back to sleep straight after i lay him back down and put the blanket on him. the 4th time he cried for 4 min, then i went back in, lay him down and put the blanket on...and he went to sleep! :yelclap: yay!
i just have to remember not to feed him when he wakes up and im half asleep! thats usually my downfall... :fingerscrossed:
will report back tomorrow. thanks :)
oh and thanks for the 3 p's...loving the last one

day two:
last night was the second night trying this. unfortunatly im finding it harder then i thought. i've given in twice in the last two nights and have breastfed him. both times around 12am and 4am.
he's still waking up at least 10 times everynight! but when i lay him back down he either goes straight to sleep or only takes 4 to 6 mins, so thats good.
ive been told that he is only waking up to feed because he's gotten into a habit.but somehow im still worried that he may need a night feed. what does everyone think?
im sooooooooooo tired:sleeping:

night 3:
last night was better then the previous ones :)
i managed to go the whole night without giving in and feeding him :yelclap:
he still woke up alot but again it only took about 4 mins to get back to sleep.
hopefully tonight he will figure out he's not getting any milk and not bother waking up

Oh hunny! I feel your pain, but keep persisting! I failed CC - it was too hard for me, too hard to cope with the crying at 3 am when I'm exhausted, I would always give in, or behave inconsistently. Sigh! But my little man was a screamer and would scream for hours, so I don't know if CC is a good idea in that instance. Hey, I have no idea what I'm doing!
Keep at it, you're doing an INCREDIBLE job, really amazing. Well done.

night 4:
not so great last night. i managed not to feed him till 6:30am so that was good.
but he woke up so much! he was up like every 15 min from 10pm till 2am!!
then every hour or so after that!
hope it gets better. im sooooooooooo tired right now. and i havent been able to have a sleep in the day either!
so far tonight is going well. went to bed a bit late (7:45pm) but hasnt woken up since. and didnt cry or make even one sound when he went to sleep :)
im starting to get a little snappy at DP though. (from lack of sleep). although he doesnt wake up to help me so he probably deserves it!
wish me luck for the rest of the night  i need sleeeeeeeeeeeep!!:hissy:

didnt wake till around 12am!!! then woke again at 1:20pm! both times he went back to sleep as soon as i re-settled him.
then he didnt wake again untill feed time at 6:30am!! yay!! :yelclap:
its finally working!
hopefully tonight we can make it through the whole night! :fingerscrossed:

went to sleep late again last night...we blame daddy again
he didn't wake until 11:30...then went straight back to sleep! then he woke again at about 1am...and again went back to sleep no problems. then he didn't wake again till his feed at 6:30am!! yay! :yelclap:
would still like him to sleep through the night though this is a definite improvement!:)
im not so damn tired anymore and im definitely snapping at DP a lot less!

Thats great.
Sounds like you are doing REALLY well.
It is hard when they wake up and cry and cry, and you know that if you feed him he will settle ...so tempting to give him that feed .. just this time :)
But remember - short term pain for long term gain.
You are doing great!!!!!!

im so glad i continued with the CC. thanks to everyone for their support.

o you are doing so well ... i 2 had the same thing with BOTH my miracles. I understand the tiredness. Our sons have almost the same pattern of behaviour ... it was so bad he was in our bed and just b/feeding when he jolly well wanted cause i was shattered!
In the end (after a huge mummy meltdown) i gave in and put him on a bottle :( Absolutely broke my heart as I am a b/feeding advocate. But I am convinsed he wasn't hungry just wanting comfort. Hard to see through the fog of tiredness though, especially if you not getting alot of support :o
Keep up the fantastic work and you will reap the rewards! I hope you can grab some zzzz's soon
:yelclap::yelclap::yelclap:well done!
I know it can be sooo hard but your persistance paid off - good on you!!
I used CC on all 4 of my kids and all were fabulous sleepers - its tough as some were better than others or should I say a little more stubborn !!!
Welcome back to the land of Nod!:)

thanks ladies :)
he's still sleeping really well...and always wakes up happy :D
only problem now is...i still dont sleep!! ive had so many months of sleeping only 2 hours max all night that i just cant seem to sleep anymore!! always the way isnt it!
hopefully that will fix it's self soon though.
:no:sorry to tell you that you will never sleep like you did before you had bubs -....well not as soundly anyway. You seem to sleep with one eye open all night so to speak -
Dreambeliever - I think you've done a fantastic job!! I too had a non sleeper with DS#3. I started the Tizzy Hall method nearly 3 weeks ago now, and OMG, bliss!! He's so much better now. Not sleeping through just yet at 12 and half months but hey, he's only feeding once which is great. My boy isn't a big boy and still needs a night feed so my health nurse suggested a dream feed at around 10.30-11, so that's what we do now and most times he may wake once but is easily resettled, it's walk in, tuck in and walk out, he might grizzle for a minute or so but that's it! Theres a lot to be said about 'self settling' as political correctness stands now, I still call it cc. I think if you do get passed the 3 p's, as I had to do and took nearly 12 months to do it, you'll be fine! You've done it though girl and looks like just in time before next bubba arrives!! Congrats!!
