View Full Version : Please Help!
Hi,
I have a 3 1/2 year old girl who has been complelty toilet trained for just over a year. However for the past 2 weeks she has been having accidents during the day every day! Sometimes its just a few drops but other days she completely wets herself. I didnt rush her into toilet training she has a brother 14 months older so she watched him and then made the transistion very easily.
Does anybody have any advise at all?
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
Has there been any changes at home? My DD started wetting herself when we bought DS#2 home. At first I ignored it (I just made her clean up the puddle and take her wet clothes to the toilet) and gave her more individual time, which made NO difference.
I noticed she wasn't wetting herself at childcare (1 day a week). In the end I got fed up with puddles all over, and the house constantly smelling of wee, so everytime she wet herself I took a favourite toy off her and put it on the fridge and told her she could have them back when she stopped wetting herself. I never got angry with her, I just explained that she was a big girl and I knew she knew how to go to the toilet. It took a couple of weeks for her to get out of the habit but she's done it.
I tried other things, but nothing else worked, I didn't really want to start 'punishing' her for it, but taking away her toys one at a time worked, she understood the consequences.
If there hasn't been any changes or anything, mabye you should take her to the doctor to rule out something like an UTI. If there is nothing medically wrong, then you know it is behavioural, and can take it from there.
I wish I could help more, I understand how frustrating it is!

My 2 1/2 year old is exactly the same. I started toilet taining him at 18months and he did so well. However for about a month now he has been wetting his pants.
Like yours he goes some days without wetting himself at all and then other days he can wet himself up to 5 times. It can become very annoying.:banghead:
I think his problem is that he is easily distracted. He knows he needs to go but discovers something more interesting before he starts the journey to the toilet and by then it is too late.
Someone told me that this could also be due to change in weather.????
Lets just hope that they get back on track soon

Just this week my 3y.o has been wetting his pants (twice while doing a puzzle  - must be deep in concentration) and I have been wondering why.
After more than 6mths accident free, it is a little bit of a worry.
I'll be interested to see what replies this thread gets.

whenever this has happened with my DS's it has been a urinary tract infection. So i would go to gp just in case to rule that out if i were you. Otherwise not sure...
I second the UTI....little girls quite often don't have all the signs or symptoms of a UTI, except for the accidents (where before there were none).
I would make a trip to the GP to have it either ruled out or confirmed and treated.
Good luck! :fingerscrossed:
