Hey does any one know how to make an apple tea cake like woolies/safeway where the apple stays at the top? Any trick?

I have stewed up a couple of apples with cin & sug - waiting for your advice...:)

The trick is to line the cake tin with the apples and then put the cake mixture on top. Then when you turn the cake out, the apples are on top.

I don't have a recipe on hand, but I have made one before!

I was going to suggest the same thing you did Rach - to place the apples in the tin first then pour the batter over the top. Then flip it over and voila!:chef:

I've made apple tea cake before & just placed the apple slices on the top. The trick is to not put too many on & when the batter cooks, it rises around the apple. Just like in the shops.
Good luck :fingerscrossed:

Thanks girls for your replies - It is in the oven! I put baking paper at the bottom...I guess that's what you're supposed to do.

I hadn't thought of putting the apple mix at the bottom...I was away from school the day they made the 'pineapple upsidedown cake'! Year 7, my goodness 17 years ago! I still use my school recipie book:laughing: & I have made the 'apple slice cake too! That was year 7 too!

...Upside down apple cake was good...just a bit too much apple...less apple next time:chef:
