hello!

Im pretty sure my DD has oral thrush... she has white parts on her lips and just this morning has developed little spots on her tongue.

Im ringing the GP first thing in the morning, hopefully ill be able to get in tomorow sometime or tuesday.

What is the treatment for oral thrush?

Im assuming its contagious, so do the people that regularly kiss her - my family and DD's fathers family (DD, me, XDF, my parents, XDFs parents), need treatment too?

Am i doing something wrong or is it caused by something?
Or is it just something that babies get?

Ive never had oral thrush, that i know of.
Ive had vaginal thrush only 3 times, but not recently.

Thanks in advance for any replies! :)

Hi Sara,

Usually the treatment for oral thrush is Nilstat drops I am not sure of your DD's age but you can buy it over the counter at the chemist so you could ask them. There should be no problems with family members kissing her really, the only other thing is if you are breast feeding you should treat your nipples as well with a little nilstat. You are not doing anything wrong it is just something babies sometimes get.

Cheers Tina

thanks tina!

DD is 1 in about 3 weeks. I thought it was just something babies got for no real reason - but i still feel a bit yukky about it! poor little darlin.

I have to take her to our GP anyway, so i will still make an apointment first thing tomorow morning.

Thanks for ur reply.

Anyone else had any experiences with this??

thanks guys...

I took DD to the drs this morning, it is oral thrush.

He said the chances of anyone else catching it is very slim as its very hard to catch, apparently.

He gave me Nilstat. 1ml four times a day with food for 6 days, then if its not healed, another 6 days.

Thanks for your replies!

My DD is 7months old and has thrush. I got the nilstat drops but the bottle just finished today and she has still got it. She is still breast feeding but she has turned off all her solids :(.
The chemist told me to try and get her to swish it round in her mouth! She is only 7 months, she doesn't know how to do that:mad:
