This morning DF was wandering around the back garden with the baby, and discovered an apple tree covered in ripe apples. Now we have a few kilos of what look like granny smiths, but they dont have shiney skins, so maybe they are just green cooking apples.

Anyway! Does anyone have any idea what I can do with them? They are quite sour... Also I dont really eat cooked apple so stuff that stores/freezes well is preferable. The only recipes I can find are for apple sauce and apple pie/crumble

Thanks

you can always freeze them while you figure out what to do with them. They freeze for at least 6 - 12 months depending on how you prepare them. Might even be good for when your little one starts solids.

peel and core and cut into wedges, dip into water with a little lemon juice added to stop them browning when you defrost them if you like, coat them with sugar (say quarter cup sugar to about a kilo of apples), pack into freezer bags (I use the ones for freezing, the zip lock style), get out all the air and zip up
