As long as its oven proof. I've done it before. You may have to adjust cooking time though.

I would think that the glass would crack at such high temperatures...Or if not when IN the oven, when cooling down after you've pulled it out. Unless it's tempered glass, like what glass casserole dishes are made from (which most glass mixing bowls AREN'T made from)...then I don't think it would work.

Hmmmm I can't imagine the heat would get into the cake as well or as evenly but then I guess we cook casseroles and stuff in glass so...yeah I think you probably could!

I bake pudding in a glass dish so i guess it could be done.
I would line it with greaseproof paper so you can get the cake out afterward. Cake would probably stick to glass and be hard to get out.

I've made a cake in a Pyrex glass bowl before and it turned out fine. Needed to make a dolly varden cake base and it was the only dish I had that would make that lovely high domed shape. It was a little drier than others I have made but I am not sure if that was the way I made the cake or due to being baked in glass?
If it is good quality and labelled ovenproof you should be OK but make sure you cool it down gradually (in oven with door ajar for a couple of minutes before removing to cool on rackj) as glass coming from a hot oven and cooled rapidly can crack.

Hi, not all glass dishes are heat proof. Ordinary drinking glasses for example will crack if your dishwashing water is too hot, the same for dishwashers. If you put glass in an oven and it's not heat proof then the glass will crack once it reaches a certain temperature. Glass that is heat proof is very thick.
