well ill start at the begining..
it was monday the 23rd of feb, 2009. and after a night of no sleep i told my partner to take the car so i could just curl up and get some sleep. my partner said goodbye to me and my bump... saying you better come today i dont want to work. and off he went. i was just starting to drift off when i thought oh god i just peed on the bed, then realised i couldnt stop. my waters had broken, it took me a few minutes to actually belive it was happening. i called my partner to tell him to get home. that was 7am. then i just waited thinking is it really happening. we called the hospital and were told to come in. we arrived at 9.30am and were taken to birth suites, i was put on a mechine to monitor my contractions. and although quite painful, i could manage, i just kept thinking its worth it in the end, and getting in and out of the shower. trying my hardest not to focus on the pain, just staring at the pictures of leaves on the wall. by 1pm i was only 4cm dilated. and not coping as well as i had hoped, i ended up using the gas, and getting really upset by this, but i knew i couldnt carry on without it. i continued getting in and out of the shower and it felt like labour was never going to end. by 1am on the 24/2/09 i was told i would be needing a epidural.... this really botherd me, i cried but thought ok there saying the baby is stressed and what was best fo bub was all that mattered in the end.... but as the dr left i felt the uncontrolable urge to push, i asked the midwife to have another look, wich she hesitantly did, and said no time for anything you are having this baby now. my partner was told to hold my leg up to my chest while i pushed, once his head was out i got to hold it while trying to push his shoulders out, he was stuck, but with the midwife pushing just above my pubic bone, and me pulling him, out he came at 1.08am. he was put on my chest, and his dad cut the cord before he was taken over to the resus unit. after a few pumps of air and a bit of suction he was ok and brought back to me. i was able to walk over to my room and was released the next day his due day the 25/2/09. he has been the most wonderful lil boy i could ever have wished for.
