View Full Version : Flea infestation + Baby what to use?
I really hope someone can help. We have an infestation of flea's due to the previous tenants of this house.
Any other time i would just bomb the house and not even hesitate. But we have a 7 month old bub who is crawling and everything is in his mouth.
So has anyone had experience bombing their house to be rid of fleas with young babies?
Doesnt help that bub is also suffering from flea bites now the poor thing.
We dont have any pets.
Any help is really appreciated.

If you've got somewhere to stay for the night I'd suggest bombing it and let it settle over night. Other wise there is a spray you can buy (like fly spray) that works on fleas and kills the eggs too....maybe that won't be as harsh as the bomb.
One thing I tried that helped to a degree was pouring salt on the carpet and vacuuming it up. Apparently the fleas don't like the salt and it brings them up. This worked in lounge room but unfortunately for us the majority of our problem is the mattress stored under our bed. Its hard to get to so we'll need to use a spray to get to it.
Unfortunately my family lives 10hrs drive away so thats not an option

We're having the same problem - apparently fleas are in plague proportion at the moment because of the weather (at least where I am anyway).
I googled for natural remedies, and I think salt and/or bi-carb soda was good for putting on your carpets before vacuuming. I found a lot of good natural ways to get rid of fleas (haven't tried them all yet, plus I was more looking for my dogs) so maybe a google search could help?
They are horrible disgusting little creatures and I can't see their purpose in life other than to drive my dogs insane! (one of my poor puppies has a flea allergy and has to go on medication every summer....it doesnt get rid of the fleas, just stops her chewing herself to pieces the poor thing.)
Unfortunately they are one of those things that can be really difficult to get rid of because of the extended life cycle.
Good luck!!

Get a professional ( pest controller) in to sort it out, you only have to spend a few hours out of the house then, if its a rental the real estate have to cover the cost, otherwise if you own, you of course do but its under $100 and guaranteed for 12 months
we're having the same problem.
:(
Hi, I don't have a flea problem but had my house sprayed for Ants yesterday..I had to get my kids out for 4 hrs....why not ring a pest man for some general info about the chemicals they would use and the time you are required to be away from your house...
good luck..
cheers

They hate lavender as well so if you get some water soluble lavender and mix a bit of it with some water is a spray bottle just spray it on the lounge and bedding and that sort of stuff cos they would be in them as well. This will get them off the furniture and onto the floor and then do the salt thing. It took us about 1kg to do our average size lounge room and I just used the cheapest salt I could get.
