Lactation with BFN

Sorry I know this is TMI from I have to ask! I was getting ready for the shower and I noticed a white spot on my nipple but it was quickly washed away by the shower.. then I decided to give a gentle squeeze and white fluid came out:eek: . I had tested this morning and it was BFN. However, I am only 7dpo of a 32 day cycle.. what does this mean? Am I being paranoid and most women experiece this or am I preggers? Please HELP!

I often get that before AF, however I have had two kids that I have breastfed, and have only had it since then, so if you have never breastfed, my gut instinct would say this is a good sign..... good luck...

I have never experienced this symptom before.. ever. I'm just a little shaken by the whole thing. Should I go and see the doctor just to be sure?

I get that quite often but i have b/f 4 kids,if you have never had it before then i would say it is a good sign. On the down side though it could be hormonal,you could go to the doc to check it out though they would know more. Good luck.:thumbsup:

Hey Tara, same thing happend to me 2 cycles ago. And i had never seen it before either. I went to the doc and he said apparentlt 90% of women can experience a nipple discharge at some stage in life, so long as its white, yellow, green or black its ok (green or black and i would be freaking out) he said its basically due to hormones and stress. Similar to girls in high shcool who dont get periods. Just stress.
I did get tested to see if i had increased levels of prolactin (hormone that creates breastmilk) but that was all fine. Also had an ultrasound but that was all AOK.I also noticed it about a week before AF was due and sure enough she turned up. He also said STOP SQUEEZING THEM, as it will only make it worse. (hah i couldnt help but squeeze it everyday just to see if it was still there) Now only one of mine leaks, i have put it down to the cold weather, and that the pipes have frozen.

Im sure you will be fine, go see a doc if you want the reassurance, but i hope for your sake that this is an early preg sign :smiliedance:

I'm kind of glad you put this thread up. I felt very weird to have lactations (albeit very small ones) I have had them only in one bb (my slightly bigger one) and it came as a somewhat scarey surprise. I think I noticed it the first time in my second month off the pill. From what I read it seemed to be caused by a hormone imbalance, probably from coming off the pill, and as long as it was white, it's fine. I also read that you shouldn't stimulate it, and it should go away... although how you know it's gone away without stimulating it, I'm not quite sure. As a consequence I think it's gone away now but I haven't checked in a while.... Still it seems if you check in a couple of months and it's still there then it's a good idea to get it checked up.

It wasn't an early pg sign for me :( Interesting that a couple of you had it the weekend before AF arrived. I should go back and check my records and see if that's when I happened for me.

If it were me, I'd probably get it checked out anyway (I'm a nurse and probably overly-paranoid)... but definately better to be safe than sorry... and I'm sure everything is fine !!!!

Thanks everyone for your advice. I don't think I'll be going to the doctors just yet. I am still a few more days from AF and don't want to jinx anything. I had asked my mother to see if she had any advice for me as well and told me it was completely normal for her. Only hers was yellow and didn't have a pleasant aroma. However, mine isn't like that at all. Doesn't have a smell and is a milky white. I haven't read much information to confirm that it's to do with early pregnancy signs but that it's an over production of estrogen. Well, I can only be hopeful that I get my BFP on Friday.:rolleyes: I'll keep you all updated.

fantastic, so happy to hear your news. :smiliedance: .. dont expect the morning sickness, you might be lucky and not get it too bad..... if you do, I can recomend peppermind tea, worked a treat for me.....
