I know this sounds weird...

But I have a huge problem with ants at the moment. But only in my kettle. They don't get into anything else but the water in the kettle, so when i go to make a cup of coffee there are ants in it :banghead:

Does anyone know what I can do to get rid of this really annoying problem... as funny as it sounds? I've used ants baits but they for some reason don't work...

It's driving us all insane....

Cheers
Christie :)

I keep on singing "Ants in the Kettle" like "Cats in the Cradle."
Sorry, completely not on topic with the conversation but if I didn't say this it would drive me bonkers.

OH MY GOD!! I thought I HAD to be the only one with this problem.

I washed my kettle in hot soapy water (avoiding the the connection on the bottom) and that seems to have helped.

Mrs Casper, that makes a lot of sense now that I think about it. It's been very dry here lately so they're probably thirsty!

Ummm, boiling the ants should kill them!

Sorry, try putting some Antrid in the path of the ants - or maybe some water with some antrid in it.

I knew that ants were after the water.... who isn't these days in QLD.

We're a week off Level 3 water restrictions

I moved the kettle yesterday and theres been no ants yet, so hopefully it's all good now.

Thanks for your help.

We had that problem up until a couple of weeks ago. I use the water for bottles, so it was really getting up my nose. I couldn't put boiling water into a plastic container and close it, so had to wait for it to cool, and by then they were in it.

I went and bought a cordless kettle with a filter thing in the spout...so far, no ants! Might be the easiest solution?
