Last night I was bathing my almost 3 week old DD and i noticed that under both armpitt's she has a nasty red rash and also noticed a slight yucky smell coming from it. I proceeded to bath her and dried it off as much as i could then i put mild powder on it to soak up the moisture.
I am worried about it.. Is she in pain ?? i hope not :crying:
Does anyone know much about this or has had the same thing ??
Advice is much apprieciated!!! thanx :hugs:

Is it like a rash or just red and weepy looking? Both my girls have had this and its apparently because of moisture still being there after a bath etc. Mac got it behind her ears, and behind her knees too. Even sweat will do it.
All i can suggest is keep it really dry like you're doing, and apply a powder like curash or similar. They have a 'family' powder for rash's etc too (in a dark blue bottle, what i used) If it gets really bad, like Mac's did, and smells really strong and gross...get it checked out and they will prescribe a cortisone cream to clear it up. Works wonders...but thats only if it gets really bad. I kept Charlee's under control with just powder.
Good Luck, hope i've been some help.

Thank-you so much Shannon :hugs:
It's not weepy looking.. just a bright red rash with a very strong odour coming from it. I will check this curash powder out as i don't really want to continue using just any old powder like Johnson & Johnson's even though is it mild. Thanx again !!!!

If its got a strong yucky smell, then it sounds like that same thing we had. I think it gets more weepy as it gets worse.
I'd even go for straight old cornflour to put on it, if you have some? It'd do the trick, and you know whats in it! Glad i could be of help. :)

My 7.5m old DD has exactly the same thing!! I noticed it when I was drying her off after her bath last week. It had gotten quite bad by the time I saw it because she's really not very good in letting me wash or dry under there!
I have been using a little bit of paw paw ointment as well as doing battle to wash & dry really thoroughly (this is tough!) but it seems to be working really well.

Just be aware that thrush thrives in warm damp places - that was my first thought when you mentioned damp and smelly.
I would at least take her to the pharmacy and show the pharmacist, or better yet, take her to the doctor.
Poor bubba, hope it clears up soon!:hugs:
