I've had a quick squiz and can't see one - sorry if you girls are sick of answering the same questions again and again.
I've just found out that I'm pregnant with #2 and I'd like to start hunting and gathering my MCN stash now :D My problem though, is that I didn't start MCNs until #1 was 16 months old and he's now been toilet trained for over a year so I'm ALOT out of practice when it comes to know-how for MCNs.
I have some BBBs here and some home made ones but the home made ones will be FAR too big for a newbie - so what do you wise gals suggest I check out?
Thanks for all your help and please feel free to express your frustration at being asked yet another silly question that's probably already been answered

Possibly...... maybe not.
Check out Booroi's bamboo prefolds, they work out at about $8 each, there is the 10% off during March for the GDUNH (just register, they don't spam you or bother you and you don't have to hunt if you don't want to) and theyre nice and fluffy.
I have a decent collection now, using one at night time inside a fitted for Baylee. They are more absorbent than the standard cotton ones and thicker too.
Theyre my favourite thus far, definitely.
You can also check out eBay for covers, if you don't mind plain white, there are some on there just like Bummi's covers (which are popular but also a little pricy) for much cheaper than usual.
I haven't gotten any since I bought a few covers from Cloth'd Up's clearance sale which is unfortunately now over..
I'm sure others will be able to offer suggestions, but those particular prefolds are my absolute favourite and there are only a few types of bamboo prefolds, these are the cheapest. At least to my knowledge they are.
There are also some snappi-able fitteds that look nice on the cloth nappy shop for around $15 each which is quite reasonable for a fitted nappy.
what do ou mean by cheap? Like $20 a nappy cheap or cheap packs?
There are a few second hand cloth nappy sites, the ones i know are buyforbaby and monkeysundies.
Otherwise as nibble said look at the GDUNH sponsor list cause you will find most nappy shops are having march sales for the hunt.
I did come across a 12 pack of Mandy Mac's somewhere during the hunt for $90. I will try and find it again.

NCB is right with the Booroi prefolds (don't buy them all though, I've got to get some more next pay day!)
They are the cheapest bamboo prefolds around.
AND I also agree with the bummi's covers. I had a bit of a search and the newborn white ones are on special on some websites for around $14..
Also ebay were selling BBH newborn AIO's for $15 (postage included) they are super tiny and gorgeous but probably wouldn't last long on a average sized newborn (4-6 weeks MAX!)..
I'm going booroi prefolds/ bummis covers and BBH AIO newborn size until my baby fits into all the small pockets and AIO's I've bought..

I'd like to go with some OSFA's after bub gets too big for the prefolds and covers........ approximately how many prefolds and covers do you think I would need if I was to wash every 2nd day ?
How old is your bub?
If newborn i would go at lease 20 for over 2 days, if older you probably dont need as many.

I've only just found out that I'm pregnant so I'm looking for start-up numbers for a newborn :) Thanks for your help.

Yep, I'd go 20 prefolds and maybe 5 covers?
Although it may be blind leading the blind here as I haven't had my baby yet!

 BM.
That's exactly why I didn't post.
I have NO CLUE. I have 18 now.. But will I need more? I just don't know. :o
Recommendations I've heard are higher than that. (Again, no experience yet!)
Obviously every bub is different, but newborns can need a feed/change up to 10-12x per day. So if you use 10 in 1 day, and it takes say 24hrs to do laundry and let them dry, you'd -just- manage with 20.
Remember that the bamboo prefolds take a long time to dry. When I prewashed my nappy stash, the bamboo took about 36 hrs to dry fully, but it was raining and they were hanging indoors, so that's a worst case scenario. If you have a tumble dryer you should be fine to dry partway with that, then sun them for the remainder of the time. (for stains, etc.)

Hi Tasma,
I'm also expecting number 2 (but ages away!) and I used MCNs with my first bub as soon as I got home from hospital and I'll tell you from my experience....
I used fitteds and OSFM for her because I was worried that DH wouldn't use cloth unless it was easy, but this time I'm going to use prefolds (though I'm using BBB fold ups because I got some cheap off ebay) and I found the only OSFM that fitted was MandyMacs at the early stage and maybe BG after a few weeks. The good thing with your prefolds is that you can keep using them later (unlike the fitteds I had which only lasted 6 weeks so I felt like it was a bit of a pricey option).
How many would you need? Well I went through anything from 8-14/day so I'd say 30 just to be safe. Gosh that sounds like a lot but see if you can reuse some of ur other nappies (like BBB to get you thru some of the in between times). I tell you I'd love to try the Mandy Mac bamboos, but .. I....must.. not ... buy.. more... nappies...............
