So my natropah suggested I swap to a mercury themometer as she said they are more reliable and give better long term readings.

BUT I wasnt sure how long it took for them to stabilise and give a proper reading so tonite while I was watching tv I decided to test my temp every min for 5 mins to see when it stayed the same (4 mins if anyone is interested)

BUT then I shook the themometer to reset the mercury for the morning and managed to clip it on the magazine I was using to record the temps. Long story short - it smashed, glass and mercury EVERYWHERE!!! :gloomy:

Guess I wont be checking temp tomorrow

oh man, that is awful, hope you managed to clean it up ok.... I vaguely remember that happening to my mum when I was a kid, and seeing the little mercury balls everywhere, before she shoved me out of the bathroom.
As for thermometers, I have had very good success with a digital one, have been charting for three years, and it always gives me a precise reading... btw, have been charting for contraception, so dont think it wasnt working, cause I am not pg lol...

bummer about your thermometer

I have a digital from this place (www.fertilitynaturopath.com), very good service too, and not a bad price. I got my Donna saliva monitor from there, much cheaper than a maybe baby, and it has a higher magnification.

 I remember that happening in science... some mercury being spilt and all students being evacuated while the mess was cleaned up ..

dangerous stuff...

I personally would never buy a mercury thermometer... just by a BETTER quality digital one...

even with the digital one I take DS's temp twice (5 minutes apart) before I trust it ... but that is cause Im paranoid

xx

lol Veve, thank god for the ear thermometer I say, as I do the same, I try both ears, just to make sure....---- that is for the kids, not for charting...

Just all over my clothes and the couch, very interesting experience having hubby vancuum me!!!

I bought a new digital one today as I am too scared to use a mercury one again so we shall see if it makes much difference tomorrow :)
